Play Nice Geelong home final at GHMBA Stadium, is this an unfair advantage?

Scott inherited a team that had won 2 premierships in 4 years, Hardwick had to build a team, I know who I’d prefer.
A team who was all written off and had just lost not only a prelim final to Collingwood by quite a significant margin, but also their best midfielder.

But yes, the 2011 flag was in the bag ripe for the picking. What does that say about Collingwood's succession plan...

Everyone gets to play at Optus stadium too, should we move all games there? I agree it's the most neutral venue in the league but that doesn't change the fact that a team can earn a home final and then be disadvantaged by being forced to play their home final at the oppositions home ground. Maybe the rules should change. Do you really think you would have won the flag in 17 if you had to play the qualifying final at KP where a loss would have sent you to Adelaide for the prelim?
Hahaha still sooking over 17 . Didn't see you sooking during 07 to 11. Let's face it you're sooking because you lost
And yes we came close to you at kp last time. We would still be a chance to beat you in the type of form we were at

I'm tired of reading posts from (of all people) Richmond supporters about Geelong getting the biggest homeground advantage in Victoria.

Let's stick with the facts:

Richmond played 13 games on the MCG during the H & A season in 2019 - 9 of those against teams that are non-MCG tenants. Geelong played 9 games on their home ground at GMHBA.

So that's 9 clear advantage home games to geelong and 9 for Tigers.
Tigers played 4 games at the MCG with other MCG co-tenants - that is 4 neutral games with no advantage for either team.

Geelong played 11 away games at the oppositions home ground and 1 home game the MCG against Essendon and 1 home game on the MCG against Hawthorn. - that is an equivalent of 9 homes games, 12 away games and 1 neutral compared to Richmonds 9 home, 4 neutral and 9 away.

So that blows away this whole Home and Away advantage to Geelong myth.

Next comes finals, only chance that Richmond and Collingwood can possibly not play on their home ground in ANY final will be if they play an interstate club who have won the right to a home game.

Fun fact, in 2017 Richmond were the ONLY team in the top 4 to play all of their finals on their home ground.....end rant!
😂

You are having a lend surely

Richmond played the following at the G

Coll x2
Melb x2
Carl x 2
Haw
Ess

Eight games against other teams that call the G home.

So at best they had 5 games at the G with any advantage

Geel - 5 games at G
Lions - 2 games at G
WC - 3 games at G
GWS - 3 games at G
Port - 2 games at G

Compare that to Geelong who had 9 games where their opposition was playing their only game at CatPark...often in a number of years.

Geelong’s unique home advantage enables them to get % boosting wins at CatPark which sees them get higher finishing position than they actually ‘deserve’.

Fun fact, Geelong is given an arm-chair ride every single H&A season.

Firstly. Anything less than 11 games in Geelong is being shafted. Any argument to the contrary is bulls**t.
You can say that but then you must also agree Collingwood is shafted each year by only having 9 home games at the MCG , the other 2 are at Marvel

Essendon are shafted each year by having to play multiple home games at the MCG rather than Marvel, often having home games on the G against G tenants

Likewise Carlton is shafted every season by having to play multiple home games at the G, same senario as Ess

Multiple poorer Vic clubs sell off home games to interstate venues because they don’t have the sweetheart stadium deals like say a Geelong do.

See a trend here, everyone makes compromises each year. On your reckoning everyone is being shafted or maybe the better way to look at it is with 9 of 10 Vic clubs sharing 2 home grounds and the other having a small boutique stadium everyone understands there is a give and take

Geelong then Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon are probably the clubs with the best deal. None of the other 3 match the advantages Geelong have and no one else is bleating about being forced to play home games on the G.

In the scale of fixture hardships if that’s all you got only Marie Antoinette really understands you

Only one problem with your argument re Richmond’s draw is that Essendon and Carlton are not MCG tenants

Does illustrate the point that as they play so often at the G in crowd neutral matches it’s hard to be sure who are the tenants. Likewise Geelong play at the G often.

We all, bar it seems some Cat fans, know that there is only 1 Victorian side that enjoys a real home ground advantage in their nominated stadium

The real point is that Melbourne teams being slowly shunted from individual home grounds to sharing two has eroded any home ground advantage they had.

Collingwood enjoyed a home ground advantage at VicPark, just as Geelong do still at CatPark.

Essendon and Carlton play 7 or 8 games at the G each year, Hawthorn play 9 or 10...what advantage do you get from 1 or 2 more games at a venue??

Geelong tend to play between 5 and up to 7 games at the G, yet their fans act as if it is some foreign ground...it is a nonsense.

The only teams who should be bleating are - North, StK and Bulldogs - they actually play in the AFLs own 55K stadium, yet they are shunted to a ground where they are lucky to have played two games on for a final.

All Victorian clubs know that Victorian finals are played at the MCG.

At what point to we start to aknowledge the game is rigged? Feel for Geelong tonight. Same as 2017, robbed by having to play away against a team that finished below them.on the ladder
So we should just turn away about 60K supporters?

The rule is you get a final in your home state. Nothing rigged about it at all. They play at the MCG through the year and only get such a good finishing position because of their home ground advantage anyway.

They have nothing to complain about.

It should be played at KP in such cases.
But you can’t correct the finals disadvantage without also addressing the H&A advantage. This year there were 4 pts separating the top 5, H&A advantages can mean the difference between 1st and 4th, e.g., Cats may not have had a top two berth without.
Some want to have their cake and eat it, too. Don’t think that is fair, either.

What's the predicted crowd at the MCG anyway? 50k? Take out MCC members that pay nothing and AFL members that pay next to nothing and there will probably be more revenue playing it out of Geelong.
It's not about money its about people who get to go to the game.

Can see right through the interstaters pro-Geelong final bias as merely a stepping stone to there own agendas.
Final was played at the MCG tonight as it has been for over 100 years... shock horror.

AFL members pay nothing except the $450 each year on the understanding that they can get to finals in Victoria.

Maybe we could go back to calling it the VFL rather than the AFL like it was a 100 years ago.

Assuming last nights game should have been played at the MCG?

The Cats only finished 1st because the ridiculous leg up they get during H&A.

Didn’t deserve to finish 1st, and will make way to let the real contenders challenge for the flag.

The AFL needs to even up H&A season to stop gifting Geelong unwarranted finals games, it is making a mockery of the competition.
