I was just wondering what you guys thought of the performance of your media manager today? There's been vision on nearly every news channel here in Sydney tonight of him having a hissey fit at the media at training. This is pretty remarkable because there's hardly any AFL coverage here at all if the Swans aren't playing. It's certainly the first thing about the Grand Final I've seen on free-to-air TV here this week. I can only imagine it got more of a run in Melbourne?!

I know the media can be pretty savage at times, but surely it must be pretty disappointing that this guy is projecting a negative image of the club at such a time?

The TV people walked out onto the ground as if they owned it and he told them to get back behind the fence. He was doing his job.

Blown up by the media, on one channel they showed him saying that an e-mail was sent to everyone about the proceedings of the day and that they would not be allowed onto the ground.

A lot of stations just showed his remarks about them being stupid... bla blah

It still made the him (your Club) look stupid and goosey, regardless of the real facts......and isn't that just the power of the press?? Turn it around and give a bad impression of him rather than them looking like vultures and disregarding the rules of the day!!.....most unfortunate..

I have to say looking from the outside it seems like he brought it on himself. I heard the club had told the media that NO ONE at the club would be available for an interview/press conference. That just seems absolutely crazy when it's your main training session before a Grand Final and there's 15-thousand fans at the ground watching! No wonder the press were acting like that, they would have been pretty upset. Surely they could have let at least one player or an assistant coach or even a bootstrapper talk to them!

He did his job, I think it was good to see. Once again it was played up by the media though, a bit like Jimmy Bartel and his dad.

Yeh I saw that, it was because it was on the national news, so its broadcast everywhere.

I know the media can be pretty savage at times, but surely it must be pretty disappointing that this guy is projecting a negative image of the club at such a time?
I don't think the image was negative, he handled it quite well, and I think it was bad for the media if anything.

To give it some perspective, the instructions to media were clear:

***

Geelong training session will begin at 9am Thursday

Please note that media will have no access to the grassed area of the
ground. All filming, photography and viewing must be done from behind
the fence area. The media facilities on level 4 of the Brownlow stand
will be open for media use on the day. Please ensure that media has AFL
accreditation to gain access to the media working areas.

No players will be available for interview at training.

Dont you think they should have security come down, instead of puting it on a little bloke with glasses and a GEELONG windsheeter to get rid of the media, someone not affiliated with the club should have done it. The Media has now made him look like a ********

the Grand Final isn't about the media...they should get that into their heads

they are so full of themselves that they actually believe the grand final is about them and not the clubs, players and fans

believe it or not mate most of new south wales and queensland sadly don't care about the afl grand final. there's no such thing as a "national news" (apart from sky channel i guess). sydney rarely has any victorian stories on its news.

by the way it looks like i'm not the only one who thinks your club hasn't handled grand final week well:

What a load of shit this story is, and listening to Tiff on SEN this morning made me want to vomit. No one deserves to be treated like that, boo hoo!

In all of this the media involved have just come across as snivelling little smart arses that wouldn't do what they were asked when asked politely.

why don't the **** off and go film Terry Bartel selling some used cars
Dodgey [journo] v Dodgey [used car salesman]

For 95% of yesterdays media it was probably their first time at SS all year. The slack arses don't venture down here much.Only Scott Gullan [lives in Geelong],FoxSports and ch10 are regulars.

That story reeks of sour grapes, what do they want? A tissue or a violin?

Did I ever say they cared about the AFL Grand Final? Don't know what you are talking about "coast2coast". And there is such thing as "national news"; It is on channel 7 and 9 at 4.30pm. Because the story was on this news program, the story was broadcast in Sydney. Please, before you contradict me, get your facts right, it will do you a world of good.

The media proved this week how they think they are bigger than the game and those that play it. All week it was about how the Cats weren't handling the pressure, how the fans would be disappointed that they weren't giving interviews, blah blah, bore bore. Guess what? I couldn't give a **** if the club never talks to the media! All I want is for them to put in everything they've got at footy. I want them to be the best footy team - and the best people - they can be, and inspire me to do the same. That's got nothing to do with the media. Take notice of that, all of you.

And guess what, if you're told to stay off the grass, STAY OFF THE ****ING GRASS!!!!!
