Geelong rorting the system

Here we go again . Geelong are always gifted a finals birth with their Kardinia Park home ground rort, now the AFL have made it easier with the easiest remaining draw of the season.
All for a club that rorted the soft cap and got away with some small fines this year.

Now do difficulty for round 0-11.

GEELONG has made a strong off-field signing by poaching the AFL's fixture guru Marcus King to its executive.

For almost 20 years, Canadian Rick Stone has been a key figure in the development of the AFL's fixture

I love how he's been there for 20 years, and we've been on top for 20 years. Lulz. Suck it, losers.

Wanna guess what the difficulty was for the first half? The AFL don't know necessarily know which teams will be rubbish each year either. And also, this year Geelong have been better at losing to ordinary sides than good ones anyway.

The truth is third party payments is an absolute blight on the game. You can’t knock players for finding income outside the game and you can’t blame Geelong for taking advantage of the loophole, but it absolutely creates an uneven playing field.

Just look at their coach taking a VP role at their sponsor.

You tell me with a straight face that someone that has another full time job with no ties to the club and never had an executive role would have been considered for that ‘role’.

There should be cap on outside payments/gifts/other salaries. Ie. each club can be ‘gifted’ $500,000 per year. If you’re going to have these clubs use these loop holes to pay outside the cap, then at least let every club do it and a point where they can compete.

So that puts you with an easier draw than 9 or 10 other teams overall.
I mean Geelong will have played Brisbane, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Adelaide and GWS at their home ground.

It's not really the Cats fault that it's two other tough road trips against 2024 prelim finalists, are now against teams who've dropped their standards (Port, Sydney).

We do get to play the pathetic rabble that is Richmond twice, so I agree that was an oversight by the league.

Are you referring to prelims or father/son pickups you've received? But yes, too many to count.
You do know your team had a father son in it for your only premiership in the AFL era right?

We couldn't even get an entire day's worth of posting about Caro's story, we're already back to the glorious years of 2007-11. Out of respect for Caro and her spending the entire first half of the year and hitching her new show on this salary cap rort, can we please at least pretend to care about it for just a little longer? :sadv1:
Not so glorious now eh? most AFL fans with an ounce of intellect knew Geelong was cheating with Dank after the Essendon saga but its obvious now they bought off someone high up to get away with it. Time for some truth telling and retribution, the Geelong Taint!

Not so glorious now eh?
Are you kidding, the collective meltdown has been nothing short of glorious. 'They are just so damn good they must be cheating' is a beautiful compliment for any sporting club, let alone a little one like Geelong who pulled itself up by its bootstraps and became a powerhouse of the 21st century.

Way back when the $10K fine for an admin error would've sunk the club, but not now, we got it covered!

p.s. Brad Close's new Ford is frickin' awesome.

Well it’s a good thing we’re already 7-4 despite only having 4 games at KP, ‘hosting’ Hawthorn and Collingwood at the MCG so far isn’t it you excuse making joke 😂😂

What’s even funnier is that you’re too stupid to realise that this article rates the remainder of the draw based on current ladder position.

So you’re assuming a draw released last year, was done by boffins at the AFL who had access to a Time Machine that would transport them to right now, at which point they would be able to make an assessment of where all the teams in the league would be on the ladder, and they would go back to their current timeline, and go ‘ok so we know Sydney will be shit which literally NO ONE expects so we will put that in the back half of the season, which will look like an easy game by that stage’

You are so stupid you’ve actually gotten to the point where it’s past ‘shooting fish in a barrel’ and it’s more like ‘dropping a grenade on a dead whale in a coffee mug’

One of my great pleasures on this site is checking in occasionally on the oppo supporter thread when the cats have a win to see what angle the Tiger meltdown is going to focus on: umpire corruption, league wide conspiracy, the opposition folding etc etc.

My favourite is the home ground thing and the downright refusal of anyone who follows Richmond to understand that in addition to a) having yes, built up a great KP record over a long period, b) started to actually drop games there more frequently recently, c) we win more games away from our home ground than anyone else over a long period and have done for ages. Sydney is the only team with a record roughly close to ours depending on what time period you want to measure it over.

So if we are reliant on our home ground to keep making finals, what does that make everyone else? What are you guys? Reliant on your home ground to keep missing them? Nah well done

Yeah most of our success has been due to four guys. You’re right.

As such the four best players of the modern era are in no particular order Ablett, Scarlett, Hawkins. and Nathan Ablett.

Mighty effort from that quartet.

Five guys.
You forgot Mark Blake.
