Geelong rorting the system

You implied that the auditing was evidence of something sinister, when Port were audited at the same time.

What is the rumoured sanction? A fine similar to Brisbane 2017 concerning a young ladies car? Anything around Scott, Baz, men's team salary cap etc? This is the juicy stuff you wanted.

Fill us in if you have an ear to the street.
again, shall we wait and see?

yes, I agree, we should wait and see if this rumour of an incoming sanction is true or not.

'Geelong are expecting' was the line, but who knows
It's more time efficient if you just add "wait and see" to your signature. You're repeating yourself without anything of value. Your reference point is a woman driving a car without a bit of paperwork lodged. If Geelong receive a $10k fine for that similar to Brisbane 2017, will you be satisfied?

"The people just want it confirmed!!!!". Desperate stuff.

so you are upset that I'm saying we should suspend judgement until the rumour is confirmed or not?

why does that upset you?

Sorry, I didn't see it!

Anyway, let's see what this rumoured sanction is, or isn't..
"The Twitter fans will not believe it anyway but at some stage, Geelong will get a 10 or $20,000 fine and they (the AFL) will say move along. Everyone else will have a field day by saying this is the way they have built a premiership list - you know, that's just the way of the world now."

What premiership list??

They are a chance like a bunch of others this year, but they have one one cup in about 15 years now, and are known for falling apart in big finals from winning positions

Maybe this year it will be different. But seriously, Geelong and premierships?

Not sure what Ralph is on about there

It’s about rorting payments, which is not right, even for teams like Geelong that have struggled to win flags in the last decade or so

Are we? Depending on what happens this season we have won as many grand finals in the last half a decade as we have ‘fallen apart in big finals from winning positions.’ So yeah, huge trend recently.

At any rate, it’s a huge rort obviously

Two premierships in 15 years. You didn't think out your parameter!

The key thing is that Geelong is contending, and has been contending since 2004. A generation of Cats supporters know nothing else

I wish I could get involved in the dick measuring competition about the number of flags we’ve won in the last 15 years.
relatable :sadv1:

Yes exactly.

The perception around Geelong is that they leave flags on the table.

Ever the bridesmaids etc etc

Not sure what Ralph is talking about, unless he meant ‘building prelim final lists’

It feels dirty having loyal Tugger Jon Ralph admiring the premiership printer of 21st century Geelong. Caro on one end whipping the nutters into a frenzy, and Jonny trying to calm them down in the other. You'd pay good money to see those two go at it in a ring - my money would be on the old biddy Caro for what it's worth.

See now you are confirming Ralph's point even more. In this thread earlier, you already said that this audit would be able to prove the 2022 flag was a cheat one. In fact you've talked about previous Geelong flags in the same way.

So this desperate coping mechanism runs deep. You're right that people shouldn't be so angry about a club simply putting themselves thereabouts in the contending picture most years. But they are. 2022 left a sour taste as well. It all worked out in the end and Geelong STILL didn't bottom out after that. So now you are STILL stuck with "just you wait until that AFLW breach has a minor fine confirmed!!!!".

All well and good, I'm just confirming you had a conspiracy theory, not a concern. Maybe you will actually wish it into existence one day. Until then we can laugh at the "just you wait!" stuff.
I love the geniuses with conspiracy theories about the AFL being able to decide who wins and loses flags. Why even follow the sport if you think it’s rigged? Watch pro-wrestling instead - the costumes are better!

And hasn’t it been the best fun?
4 flags in 16 years actually. And a contender in pretty much every year in between. Not too shabby.
I saw plenty of tough years but my daughter has known nothing but footy joy really.

I think falling just short repeatedly in the last decade+ has led to the rumoured sanctions.

Hardwick’s Richmond asked ‘why not us’ in 2017

Scott’s Geelong would have asked ‘why not us’ in 2019 also.

Same question, very different tone, not hope but desperation.

But let’s revisit once everything has been made transparent, but I think that will have been the kernel of it all.
