Geelong rorting the system

Final paragraph of your article from the ever impartial Geelong Addy. 😍

According to Wilson, the audit is now essentially finished, the storm has all but passed.

While it’s understood Geelong are expecting a few fines, there will be no “smoking guns,” or significant punishment for that matter.

Scott alluded to that on Thursday.

“If the AFL have shared some information with journalists that they haven’t shared with us, we’d prefer it happened in the reverse order but we certainly haven’t heard anything that gives us any cause for concern,” Scott said.

“And when I say any, I mean as close to zero as you can imagine.”

The thread is about Geelong rorting and it's unAustralian to succeed through rorts.

As has been proven here and just about everywhere else you spread your ignorant horse shit on this forum you don't know or understand what a 'rort' is. It doesn't apply to something you don't personally don't like.

A "rort" and "rorting the system" have two different meanings and this is where the confusion lies.
Can you explain your post? I don’t see any difference. If you are rorting a system your actions constitute a rort???

How many wins did you have over 100 points that year? it's still a record isn't it?

That team is ridiculous.

Combined the players in that team had around 45 All Australian appearances with the few that didn't reach that level mostly being good players (ie Josh Hunt, David Wojinski, Max Rooke). Add to that it was a really well balanced squad.

No. Rorting the system means you are taking advantage of the system in unethical ways. They aren’t illegal. They are just not acceptable in the spirit of the rules.

What exactly has Geelong done that is unethical?

Quite the opposite in fact. If you’re to believe Aristotle Pickett we won all four of them with the 22 weakest squads ever sent onto an AFL field so God only knows how little we had to spend on them

Haha, they say that about Richmond's 2017-20 as well. Like they did a Steve Bradbury 3 times in 4 years.

That Geelong side was stacked with talent. Lots of F/S players, some great drafting, genuinely useful 'role players' and 'enforcers' and to be completely honest the overall AFL standard was higher back then with only 16 teams vs the 18 now (and subsequently diluted talent pool).

Incorrect. The only requirements are that you need to go back to back and win three. You also can't drug cheat :)
Even AI agrees Geelong's dynasty is special:

"The Geelong Football Club dynasty, spanning the period from 2007 to 2022, is widely considered one of the most successful in AFL history. The team achieved four premierships (2007, 2009, 2011, and 2022), consistently dominated the regular season, and maintained a strong presence in the finals series."

I don’t. I have said and I would probably stand by it that in an infantilised pitched battled between those two sides I would back us to win (and yes of course I’m biased) for the reason you mentioned - the sheer depth of talent - but I don’t think you Bradburied them at all. The Tigers team was clearly one of the great modern sides and there was nothing flukey or lucky about it.

I agree.

Cats from 07-11 would win.

I think there's a bit of a difference between Tigers '17 and '19-20 as well. I think the 2019 team would give them the best run for their money.

On the topic of “Doing a Bradbury”, honest question for the Geelong supporters. How do you view 2008? Did Hawthorn do a Bradbury in that GF? They finished 2nd (so were good enough to win on the day), but Geelong went 21-1 and won by decent margins in the QF and PF.
