Geelong rorting the system

Some biased comments here, haha.

Obviously, Smith is a very talented player, one of the best. I love watching him breaking away from contest, and his great running capacity. Still a bit messy with disposal.

Off field he is a bit nut, IMO. For sure, it's a bit unusual for the AFL boss going to his home.

Crazy Rocket when he reflected on his coaching career and was talking about Bennell's indiscretions (when Suns decided to trade him) he mentioned that obviously all clubs try to keep issues inside and only about a quarter of them get outside. So my guess is that nose beer post is possibly not the only reason why Dillon payed him a visit.

Personally, Smith annoyed me during his draft year. Basically, making himself undraftable by interstate clubs like some other draftees. There was a rumour about his medical certificate. I heard him on radio interview saying that he could not move outside Melbourne as he could not move his pet.

I am sure Cats can handle him.

AFL rort it for the cats to rort it this is the thing.
AFL would love to gift them a flag 2025 and give Scott one more flag on his way out the door mark my words.
Methinks 2026 the cliff is then all theirs.
But 2025 is its last shot at the flag and the AFL will make sure they win one for good measure.
With Pies i think they can go again 2026 they have a great system and process.
cats will be handed one more this year as said just for good measure and piss off the rest of the comp along with it.
thing is they dont have a hell of alot of supporters or members at all.
always seam to have empty seats at gmhba and was at pies cats game mcg i had to look hard to see any fans that werent in the cheer squad behind the goals.
they dont have much of a following outside geelong either.
kind of the gmhba looking like a waste of a venue.
why bother with the place
offers nothing anyway
tax paid dont forget

That’s the thing, to handle a players like Smith, Stengle, Oliver. You need to have a really strong club culture from top to bottom.

However at some point you will hit a critical mass of dickhead. No club can take on to many without it altering the clubs culture.

Which is actually why I was pretty happy the Oliver thing fell through.

You haven’t bothered with the place for a quarter of a century and with (apparently) no supporters egging us on we still beat you 60 per cent of the time we play you even at your own ground so who gives a shit anyway.

And Dillon prioritised tea time with Baz over meeting Albo at the Hawthorn match. 😻
Actually goes to show the priorities of AFL hq. Would rather spend time appeasing one player to protect the credibility of the AFL than spend time with the PM building the future of the game in the country. Horrendous leadership.

Sorry Albo, but marshmallows with Baz around a bonfire won this time.

Wouldn’t the credibility of the afl be enhanced by its leader showing that he cares about the welfare and behaviour of his participants more than him rimming the prime minister in some PR staged event that no one cares about? Especially given that the AFL’s stance on the future of the game and its growth is already being done no favours by its lack of help towards the Tasmanian debacle.

Every AFL fan who’s across what happens across the codes shits on V’Landys for what he does for NRL because he’s up the backside of the politicians etc and doesn’t actually give a toss about players etc and is just a glorified businessman.

Should the CEO be so worried about the welfare of one player he needs to visit him personally? I mean by all means that’s a caring guy and Bailey’s one of 720 odd players on team lists this year. Is he making home visits to all players?

But there’s a players association that should do the heavy lifting for Dill while he focuses on the bigger aspects of the game. Getting a team down in Tassie with that pesky stadium build should have been high on his agenda.

But he seems the sort of guy who’s happy to let things run their course.

Great that he toasted some marshmallows with Bailey though. What a fan moment for him.

And while I’m in your bot where I don’t give a rats tossbag about NRL, their CEO has shat all the AFL in the last couple of years. Opening round, gather round and the way they host grand finals and state of origin as showpieces of their game puts the afl to shame.

But in fairness, Dill lets the media run the AFLs agenda.

Keen to hear when Whately and Jon Ralph decide that the AFL grand final should be played in the afternoon or at night this year.

I doubt 720 AFL players need a bit of a clip around the ear.

Bailey Smith wasn't injured. He got a suspension from the AFL but it was kept hush hush.
