Geelong rorting the system

Still no news on the minor sanctions which were talked about 3 months ago now. Feels like quite an investigation over such a small matter.
The investigation is already over; Geelong and Port Adelaide were selected this year as part of a rotation policy. Every single player payment was scrutinised at both clubs.

One breach at the heart of the matter is reported to be in relation to a car leased by an AFLW player.

Last year, one of the clubs investigated by the AFL was the Brisbane Lions. They were found to have breached the salary cap 26 times. (source: Australian Financial Review)

It gets used more than 10 times a year though.

The Dogs asked, the AFL flat out said no.

It's not like the GFC owns it anyway, they're just the primary tenant and biggest drawing tenant like Collingwood and Hawthorn are at the MCG.

Kardinia Park is a community stadium for all. The local footy and netball comp play their finals there, they have cricket, soccer and concerts there too.

And 3 months ago Caro said the AFL were going to announce the penalty.

Also, literally noone believes the only issue was a car lease. The AFL doesnt look because they dont want to know what is under the rug.

The biggest rort this year has been receiving one of the weakest draws for a prelim team I’ve ever seen.

Is the person that does the draw in the Geelong cheersquad?
Yep,
Shocking draw. The AFL didn’t even give them the Hawks twice this season despite them being their biggest rival.

Richmond in the final round is insane for a previous prelim team the year before.

Port and Sydney finished 2nd and 1st late year. Before the season Geelong's schedule was ranked 5th hardest. That's how it works, you don't go off after the fact when teams move up or down.

If both maintained their spots from 2024 then this conversation would be totally different.
What do you want the League to do? Have hindsight when creating a fixture that no teams will fall off or rise?
It's not made with the assumption that team XYZ will rise while ABC will fall.

It's always the dumbest argument. You play who is in front of you.
I'm sure many didn't have Freo or Crows in their 8 before the season began.

'17, '19 and '20 they beat Geelong to cruise through as premiers. It took us to stop their 4-peat and an unusable bigfooty from occurring.

I'm trying to figure out how Collingwood prevented them from winning a 4 peat unless you're talking about the pf in the year that Collingwood lost their 27 gf.

If they had won 4 on the trot, yes it would have been insufferable but at least it would have been legitimate, unlike Collingwood's 4peat which included the last 2 under the challenge system.

I mean, Collingwood could have won 5 in a row from 1935 to 1939, they just happened to lose 3 of them, the first of those losses was to Geelong. That means Geelong (and Carlton and Melbourne) prevented the Pies from having a 5peat

of course they don't. There is zero incentive for the AFL to uncover mass rorting in their own league.
It needs to be an independent body which the AFL would need to be 'forced' to implement

Which they will never do. So the only punishments will be when caught for being stupid.

Still waiting for the investigation into the claims by the former Melbourne president too.

Of the 9 teams still in the race, Geelong has beaten 6 of them and lost to both Brisbane and GWS twice each. Beaten top placed Adelaide at AO, defeated Collingwood and Hawks both at their home ground of the MCG

Have yet to play Sydney, that's next week.

6 double ups - Lost to Brissie twice, lost to GWS twice, St Kilda lost 1 and won 1, Port smashed twice, Essendon beat twice, Richmond- beat once, one to play. Port finished top 4 last year so it was reasonable to expect a double up against them.

The oval is not a community oval it is for Geelong to train on only.

last years grand finalist got West Coast in the final round, I assume you're also writing angry posts about that too?

Equal 2nd dumbest post of 2025. “Demonstrates a complete inability to understand how a fixture works and how the fortunes of clubs can change from season to season”

One would think if any level of govt is going to finance a stadium for you costing hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars, then at the very least all Geelong’s home games should be at that actual venue.

It’s amazing how Geelong’s fortunes are always on the right side of the ledger!
