Port and Sydney finished 2nd and 1st late year. Before the season Geelong's schedule was ranked 5th hardest. That's how it works, you don't go off after the fact when teams move up or down.

If both maintained their spots from 2024 then this conversation would be totally different.
What do you want the League to do? Have hindsight when creating a fixture that no teams will fall off or rise?
It's not made with the assumption that team XYZ will rise while ABC will fall.

I'm sure many didn't have Freo or Crows in their 8 before the season began.

Sounds like a bunch of excuses and then trying to extrapolate that into a narrative that doesn't exist.
Freo are where they are because they didn't win games early in the season and had to claw their way back later in the season.

Cats are where they are because they had a hard draw early (ranked 2nd hardest), put all those teams away (have beaten everyone in the 8 bar Giants and Lions) and now get an easier back end of the schedule.
I mean what did you expect to happen? They just play someone enough times until you're happy with it?
They already beat majority of the top sides early...does it just not count because you don't like it?

It is not Geelong's job to make sure their opponents don't fall off a cliff

Of the 9 teams still in the race, Geelong has beaten 6 of them and lost to both Brisbane and GWS twice each. Beaten top placed Adelaide at AO, defeated Collingwood and Hawks both at their home ground of the MCG

Have yet to play Sydney, that's next week.

6 double ups - Lost to Brissie twice, lost to GWS twice, St Kilda lost 1 and won 1, Port smashed twice, Essendon beat twice, Richmond- beat once, one to play. Port finished top 4 last year so it was reasonable to expect a double up against them.

That’s 10 games vs the contenders and you just lost a prelim. We have had 8 vs the contenders (6-2) with 2 to come and we missed finals last season.

It should be easier for teams missing finals. Also note that we had double ups vs Port & Sydney who aren’t contenders and both made the prelim.

Everyone’s draw for the Top 8 last year has been harder.

I think to be fair, Sydney just came off its 2rd GF belting in 3ys and were probably ready for a flat patch early under a new coach and Port was always going to be an emotional rollercoaster with Ken finishing up, exactly how its played out.

One would think if any level of govt is going to finance a stadium for you costing hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars, then at the very least all Geelong’s home games should be at that actual venue.

You'd have to ask the AFL about that one, although we did get 10 this year which is the most in probably decades. It wasn't that long ago that we were only getting 7 or 8 games at Kardinia a year which in itself was a rort by the league and other clubs.
