Sydney were never maintaining their spot due to being flogged in the GF (it’s a thing). Port over achieved last year and on the way down too.

We didn’t even make finals and had a much harder run into finals with 1st game and last game away from home. They even give Geelong a free hit against us Rd 1 as if it went ahead we would be playing you off an AFL match already.

You continually get looked after hence why you do well during the season but have very few recent flags for a team who barely misses finals in the past 10 years.

Did you put your money where your mouth is? If you were so sure Sydney and Port were destined to slide out of the Top 8 then I'm sure you put some hefty bets on it happening. Doubt it though, you're just yapping crap because because you're buddhurt at Geelong's sustained excellence and looking for excuses to downplay it out of sheer jealousy

We have few recent flags because Geelong have been denied Top 10 picks for decades unlike GC, Giants, Sydney, Brisbane, etc.. who have been gifted a plethora of the best young players in the land yet to date most of these teams have little to show for it besides the Bad News Bears winning last years flag.

Geelong have to resort to astute and crafty recruiting tactics to keep the team contending year in year out so understandably our list is not brimming with talent like the lists of those clubs are. Something that every club that has tried to emulate (looking at Hawthorn, Richmond) but failed miserably at replicating to date.

Rest assured if we had the Top 10 pics that the Giants, GC, Brisbane, Sydney, etc.. have been gifted in the last 10 years, Geelong would be on their 10th straight Premiership streak by now.

Geelong’s real rorted is the rookie system. To get 1/3rd of the team from the rookie list feels like cheating.

I suspect Bevo's hard arse persona is what rubbed Bazza the wrong way and why he decided he needed to play at a club that would be more accomodating to his larrikin personality. That's just my take on it. Bevo does come across as prickly old school character that still thinks coaches are entitled to act like they did in the 70s and 80s. Like private school headmasters who had impunity in disciplining naughty misbehaving children however they deemed fit.

Yeah JUH at this point is perceived as damaged goods (hanging around criminals and questionable characters and showing little evidence that he is prepared to act like a professional athlete) and quite happy for him to be recruited by another club if the price the Dogs are asking is too high.

It has a lot more to do with Sam Power being completely out of his depth than it does anything to do with Geelong. Without inheriting an already very good list and being gifted possibly the future best player in the AFL via F.S he'd be out of a job after last years efforts.
