Geelong rorting the system

GWS are our kryptonite down there - we have everyone else covered relatively easily.
to act as if KP is a fortress only exists as an argument against the shit teams they play there. this season they versed 3 top 8 sides there (all interstate) and only won once (vs. gold coast, who’ve beaten them 4 times in their history)

GWS has an almost winning record there.

Kardinia Park almost assures the cats finals most seasons.
But then … big finals aren’t played at Kardinia Park.
Sometimes what you perceive to be your greatest strength can in fact be your greatest weakness.
Other examples :
Essendon’s coteries
Carlton’s billionaire benefactors.
Just some food for thought …

Using that logic, the SCG, the Showground, the Gabba, Metricon, the Adelaide Oval, and Perth Stadium should guarantee those teams finals most years.

But yeah again as I keep pointing out, approaching 3 quarter time in last year’s preliminary final and this year’s grand final, one of our players looked around and said ‘oh f**k has anyone noticed we aren’t at Kardinia Park? Quick, better lose’ and then we fall behind. Up until then when we were beating Hawthorn on their home ground at the MCG, Port at the Adelaide Oval in finals, Collingwood at the MCG in finals etc etc, we just got a green screen of Kardinia Park put up around the periphery of the ground and that’s why we won.

So in the last 12 months we've had;

Unidentified man sits out of a season with a finger injury.

Keighton Motofai-Forbes investigated for an accusation re: assaulting a woman.

Tom Atkins causes a 3 car pile up because he was 'looking for his ID'.

Bailey Smith abuses a female photographer (twice).

Bailey Smith also abuses a female journalist.

Chris Scott abuses a junior female staff member.

Bailey Smith makes homophobic comment + misogynistic comment about Caro all in the same day.

The AFLs response?

Every other club in the comp would have had the AFL step in to investigate at some point but why are Geelong continually allowed to internally investigate themselves and find no issues of wrongdoing?

GWS players were hit with hefty fines and suspensions on the recommendation of the AFL for their 'Wacky Wednesday' antics last season.

When did Smith abuse a female photographer twice - we know he did it once - and who was the female journalist he abused? I’m not being facetious I’m wondering when this happened. I’m across the fact that he’s a knob.

An unidentified man didn’t sit out a season with a finger injury. He sat it out due to an ongoing sexual assault trial. Why does his presence for a while on the injured list, doubtless under legal advice, rankle so many people? They don’t have a spot on AFL lists for ‘players you can’t name who are under investigation for serious crimes.’

What do you expect the AFL to do about the Atkins incident? It’s shit, sure. But what are they going to do? Launch an investigation of their own into what I am probably going to guess is a player potentially looking for their mobile phone while driving?

Interstate teams have to travel every second week … everyone knows this.
Kardinia Park absolutely assists the cats during every home and away season.
An exclusive advantage not available to any other Victorian clubs.
The unique situation is what it is and won’t change.
Denial is for dills … cats fans should just acknowledge the home and away season benefits they enjoy … and cross their fingers in September …

So. The teams meeting them have to travel to play them.

It’s amazing how this advantage has only manifested itself in the last 19 seasons isn’t it.

Denial IS for dills, that’s correct. Which makes it all the more bizarre that you continue to pin our success on our home ground rather than being the best travelling team in the league not just for a season here or there, not just for the golden 2007-2011 era, but between 2012-2025. We also have the best record interstate in that era or did last time I checked. Sydney were very close and Collingwood were too. But we were on top.

So yeah, maybe they need to invent a ranking higher than first that we need to achieve in order to satisfy this unspecified criteria you want us to meet in order to be a legitimately good side 😂😂

"I've been shooting Cats footy players for 25 years, I've never been sworn at or had someone be so aggressive to me," Wynd said.

"That's twice Bailey Smith has unleashed his language on me [within a few weeks].

"I've never had a player abuse me for doing my job, photographing them doing their job [at training]."

Alison Wynd - photographer.

It appears there was one very public incident that we all know of, and another incident that wasn't so publicised.

Translation: ‘I was unaware the Cats since the start of 2012 have a win percentage of 60 when they play away from Kardinia Park and that this win percentage alone would be enough to qualify a team for the finals (it’s 14 wins in a 23 game season and 13.2 in a 22 game season) almost every year since the top 8 existed.
I was also unaware their interstate record was 56 per cent which translates to a little over 12 wins in a 22 game season and a little under 13 in a 23 game season.

In summary to translate, I was unaware that Geelong’s win percentage over 14 seasons away from KP is enough to make the finals virtually every year - finishing 5th in some cases- if they didn’t play a single game there, and even their win percentage interstate is enough for them to make the finals most seasons without playing at home.’

You’re right, we are done here.

She works for the Addy, in Geelong its like Trump's media.....never a bad word gets spoken.

TBH - there’s been a few similar things in the Geelong community that are relatively well known similar to this but don’t end up in the media

And they get a ‘special visit’ from Andrew Dillon to talk about things.

I know the Cats are famed for their 'hands-off' approach when it comes to managing their players.

Maybe they need to set some boundaries with their players.

Quite a number of indiscretions for a club in a single season.

The AFL is planning to take a less interventionist approach in the former Geelong Captain Tom Harley era.

Tom has committed to allowing Geelong do the investigating when it comes to disciplining itself.

The plan is to sweep everything under the carpet including the most serious circumstances.

Efa.

Just for the record the above posters are all pretending to be upset about the Mad Monday stuff, right? Like you're not actually aggrieved by it any way, shape or form, are you?

It's like buzzword bingo!

Give me an example of something from Geelong’s Mad Monday that people might be aggrieved about?

The AFL are driven by the media - they manage things based on how much bad press they are getting.

Geelong simply get an extraordinarily cushy run in the media. Their sins are given relatively scant or no coverage. They manage key voices in the media well - but they do have a natural head start on that given so many prominent media identities are lifelong Geelong supporters.

It's simple - if the media were going wild about any of Geelong's issues, the AFL would whack the club much harder.

Geelong haven't planted key people in the media. It's just the way it's worked out, and they take advantage of it. AS any club would.

I dont see the issue but also I didnt see the issue with the GWS players.

The problem is the AFL are situationally very heavy handed. And situationally happy to pretend there is nothing to see.

Yeah his definitely pushed his luck with a few things . Namely around treating women and minority groups . Probably can see how given the last day or so but yeah
