Geelong rorting the system

Two clubs audited per year, Geelong was 2025, so by my reckoning we've got at least the rest of this decade and early next to just go balls-to-the-wall rorting with full impunity. And then cop a suspended fine mid-way into the 2030s when our turn comes back around again to get examined.

Any evidence yet of Geelong exceeding the TPP? Let me know when that evidence is put forward
That’s like asking for proof the fox raided the henhouse while it’s still wiping feathers off its mouth. Good luck to Geelong landing Curnow now, the AFL will be watching every brown paper bag that leaves Kardinia Park.

To be fair the AFL couldn't give a shit and have only fined them so it looks like they are doing something. Meanwhile the farms and paper bags will continue.

Not according to the article on the AFL website.

"The League revealed on Wednesday that the Cats had not breached any total player payments or soft cap rules, but they had failed to disclose some third-party deals".

A $77,500 fine with $40,000 suspended is a wet lettuce leaf for "failing to disclose some third-party deals". Player salaries and club caps are not publicised nor are third party deals. The AFL is an amateur organisation that fails upwards.

This doesn’t prove you correct lol.
It just shows saints are a basket case, not that it’s dodgy and not above board.

Hahahaha far out you really are a nuff 😝

“Basket case” is the safe interpretation. But not the only one.

You don’t pursue a player for two years, tell him he’s part of your future spine, only to suddenly pull out over a future second-round pick a day after the AFL publicly reaffirms its crackdown on third-party benefits and undeclared deals.

Could be incompetence.
Could be timing.
Could be a quiet retreat from a deal they knew wouldn’t pass the sniff test under the new spotlight.

You don’t have to be a “nuff” to notice when clubs suddenly get stage fright. Pay attention.

Some real Tin foil hat wearing going on here.

Stop trying to discredit everyone and everything. Reflects really poorly on you.
Why even bother following the code if you just don’t trust anything?
Serious question, what do you get out of following the sport?

Serious answer?

Because I do love the code... enough to call out the bullshit that gets swept under the rug.

If you think blind trust is the price of admission, that’s on you. I reckon scrutiny is part of the deal. The day fans stop asking questions is the day the AFL gets away with whatever it wants.

You don’t need a tinfoil hat to notice patterns.
You just need a memory.

Now if that makes you uncomfortable, maybe you should reflect on why.

It’s not just the saints or cats. Your belief that everything is dodgy covers everything even your own team.

You can question things, but you’re on another level completely.
It’s insane.

Appreciate the honest answer, I just can’t comprehend how you can follow the sport.

Lets face the facts that nobody gives a shit about the admin error and all we care about is if this is what can be found on paper what is being covered up. Did Cameron get 150k to host a bunch of camps while getting paid 150k less to play? Is Chris Scott's deal with Morris Finance similar? There is smoke everywhere but there is no transparency on any of these deals. Just like every time there is an RFA and Geelong's pay offer is always veiled in secrecy.

Geelong has signed how many restricted free agents?
Scott Selwood and now James Worpel.

What a hot streak of skullduggery.

Yeah because THAT’S gonna be the biggest challenge, not the sheer lack of resources we have to offer Carlton in return for him.

Maybe they give him livestock so he has to live locally.

Do…. Do you know how farms work?

A little off topic but to own livestock, profit from it, benefit from it etc, you don’t have to show physical proof that you have handfed it every meal it’s ever eaten or that you’ve crutched every sheep that’s ever set foot on your property with your own teeth.

We could just pay for several farmhands to do it for him or buy some livestock and pay the agistment on it at another nearby property etc and rort it that way.

I don't think the afl are professional enough to ever do a good job covering something up.
Good point - you can't on the one hand believe the AFL are running the ultimate illuminati level cover for Geelong, yet on the other hand claim they're completely incompetent and couldn't organise a root in a brothel.

For all the tit for tat tomfoolery going on in here it's pretty simple when distilled down - Geelong pushed the boundaries and broke some third party arrangement rules, and have rightly been called out for it. The stigma is much worse than the pretty weak fine.

Yet the infractions are relatively minor, and I'm sure the majority of other clubs are guilty of similar.

The melts are clearly in part because of Geelong's sustained relative success - Geelong fatigue - and if it were North or Gold Coast it would barely cause a ripple. It's just nice to be relevant though - no longer sleepy hollow.

There have now been two clubs caught rorting the system... that have won premierships while rorting the system.

Essendon 1993
Geelong 2022

And what did the AFL do about it. Nothing. So slap an asterix on the 2022 premiership because we all know that Geelong rorted the system and won the premiership doing it.

Lolz. A Carlton supporter throwing shade about compromised GF wins.

Is this a serious post?
