Firstly, we don't pay players to play for other clubs like Collingwood have been doing with Treloar and Grundy. How is it always, and I literally mean ALWAYS Geelong? This is an honest question. Do they pay these players $100,000 a season or something?

Thanks for using our balls up once to justify it all. Both are off the books but were ****ed forever nowFirstly, we don't pay players to play for other clubs like Collingwood have been doing with Treloar and Grundy.
This goes a long way when it comes to banking cap space so we can pay players to play for us.
We hold players to their contract (eg Tim Kelly, Esava Ratugolea) so we don't have to pay them to play for the opposition.
Secondly, we don't throw ridiculous amounts of money at free agents like Richmond did with Lynch and Sydney did with Franklin.
Remember when Dangerfield came to us on $800k a year? Crows were offering him a contract worth $1m per year hence why we facilitated a trade for him, even though he was a free agent.
Thirdly, we don't chase contracted players.
We wait for players to come out of contract because it costs more to trade for contracted players than uncontracted players.
Deledio, Watts, Stringer, Oliver are a few recent examples of contracted players wanting to come to us, we had to say no because they would have cost us too much and unbalanced our salary cap.
Bowes is the exception to this because we restructured his contract, so it wouldn't unbalance our salary cap.

Do you still backup your original comments from below?
Do you ask that question with a straight face? Didn’t you see the recent report where a sponsor was going to ‘borrow’ $100,000 off Joel Selwood and was going to pay him 15% interest for the privilege? I mean .. WTF??
And a man who has said senior coaching takes you to hell and back and isn’t a job for just anyone, requiring 24/7 heart and soul … takes up a well paid position with one of their major sponsors just for a bit of ‘part time’ work on the side …
Frank Costa owns half of Geelong …. Do the math.

Seek help bro. Legit every thread involving Geelong and your name is plastered all over itYou are welcome. You clearly don't love oppo fans hating your club because you rush to defend them wherever possible. It doesn't really matter what you tell us, but you probably should be more honest with yourself.![]()
I sense a lot of anger in this post. But I don't understand why. We let you have Hopper after all. Did that mean nothing to you?
I just can’t quite recall the investigation into Selwood’s loan deal with a sponsor, that’s all. And I can’t recall the integrity unit getting involved with Stengle’s 3am OD… maybe I missed it.. although I’m told he’s just had one too many … can’t recall the last time I needed an ambulance after one too many….Or when do we hear the media outcry over Atkins physically and mentally crushing someone in a car crash - imagine that was Balta behind the wheel … ? Or the Catter draftee getting a little punchy with a chick.
I can’t quite recall suspensions or integrity investigations down the Highway….
However, I didn’t miss the GWS players getting multi-week suspensions for playing dress-ups up at a private function.

Why would they.
You seem to have diagnosed it.
How do you know it was an OD.
He has explained the evidence supporting that conclusion in the post you quoted. Ambulances don't get called for people who have had "one too many" drinks.
Reminds me of the well know philanthropist and his pet goat. Thanks for using our balls up once to justify it all. Both are off the books but were ****ed forever now
To be fair, yes they do - if the person is drunk to the point where it is a legitimate threat to their health. Be it choking on their on vom or a good ole fashioned tummy-pumpin', they are in lethal enough danger to require an ambulance. He has explained the evidence supporting that conclusion in the post you quoted. Ambulances don't get called for people who have had "one too many" drinks.
Having been in one for that reason, yeah they do, buddy.
I've been around a while. Seen a load of people legless drunk. Never once seen a person taken away in an ambulance to a hospital simply due to drinking too much. I have no doubt it happens but it is rare enough that I have never seen it or had personal knowledge of a case.
But it is well known to be a more regular occurance for people who take illicit drugs.
Why would someone in the public eye say they were smashed on booze when they were under the influence of drugs or a cocktail of the two? Because booze is legal, illicit drugs are not.
Rare according to who? My brother and half my uni social circle are paramedics and the volume of people they’ve had to cart away somewhere passed out drunk isn’t countable.
Why would someone who has overdosed on drugs be waved on their way and go to football training the next day.
Thanks Dr Cheeks.
If someone falls asleep when off their face drunk they need an ambulance? Not in the world I have inhabited. And if you were that smashed on alcohol you are not training at a professional football club the next day.
Geelong & you(and other Cats supporters here) are trying to sell Stengle passing out in a nightclub and being hospitalised, as if it was a result of drinking and nothing else.
The troule is loads of us opposition supporters know it is much more likely to be the result of consuming illicit drugs, probably with alcohol as well. And many cases where medics are called to passed out drunks it is likely the same situation - they have also consumed an illicit substance in conjuntion with alcohol. This is a perfectly reasonable thing for somebody like me to conclude as I grew up and spent basically all my first 35 years around people who regularly drunk to excess at least on weekends, and I can't recall a single time an ambulance was called for a passed out drunk.
What you are not acknowledging is that if it was the result of consumption of illicit drugs then both the law and AFL rules both mean it would be in both Stengle's & Geelong's interest to lie about that. Especially given Stengle is surely sitting on at least 1 and possibly 2 illicit drug strikes. And his prior drug history also lends itself readily to the theory he was not consuming alcohol alone in that Geelong nightclub.

Yes, in public what do you think happens if someone is unresponsive
They just put him on the street and leave him?
What you are not acknowledging is that your unhealthy obsession with the club is making you unequivocally hang, draw and quarter someone and turning a possibility - which it is - into an assumption and a fact. You’re a grown adult using the logic of a 10 year old.
I too grew up around pissheads and was one of them and ended up in an ambulance even as a married man with children of my own due to excess consumption of alcohol.
Grow the f**k up for once mate.
Your post doesn't follow from mine. You are simply wanting to abuse me for having a different understanding of the situation being discussed. It is not like my position on the matter is radical.
