Geelong rorting the system

Don't know what this is about as it's paywalled..
View attachment 2229301but I'm sure it's rort based.
Yup, sounds like it.
South Australian Phoenix Foster has opened up about his “really rough” time with Geelong after being delisted at the end of the 2024 season and joining Yorke Peninsula club Paskeville for season 2025.

“I was a workhorse. I went over and beyond – my days would start at 7.30 in the morning and finish at 5 and I was usually there for a couple hours getting my body right before other players would come in for meetings.

“I understood I was a longer term prospect and I was injured but I just felt like the work I did went under the radar.”

I believe this is a legitimate thing and needs to be investigated by an AFL panel, as well as a separate body so we can make sure the AFL aren't full of shit.

What do you want them to do mate, an awareness round for reaching into a bag behind your seat while you’re driving? Not exactly the sort of PR disaster you hire a company to solve or avert, is it.

Ironically the Geelong paper was the only one that could be bothered even covering Atkins’ court case seemingly.

This seems to bother you a lot more than it bothers anyone else. I’m glad the people involved in the accident are okay.

That aside, I couldn’t give a shit. The more of this that drives you crazy, the better.

And coaching is a thankless job.

You can help win your team two titles, have the best winning percentage in history, get no credit for it, and every clueless c**t with wifi access thinks they know how to do your job better than you and that you’re a f**kwit whether they’ve ever met you or not, and that you contributed absolutely nothing towards the success of the team that you’ve spent 14 years looking after.

I’m just glad with all the pressure and being on $1m / season Chris Scott has the energy and passion to get a second job - maybe he could drive an Uber or deliver pamphlets at night as well. I’d have thought he’d spend time with his wife and kids in his limited downtime … but he is prioritising a second job. Seems weird to me. Maybe he doesn’t like his wife and kids.

Was a train guard, now a trainee train driver.
Solidarity mate. Driver here too. Hope we have yet another win at the Fair Work Commission today

Um… I mean… get back to discussing the thread topic everybody!! 🚂

He could just do what people like myself and Damien Hardwick have done and have an affair behind their back

Never forget Steven Motlop getting Geelong a FRP compo despite not being named in the top 40 highest paid AFL players.

Tom Rockliff in that same free agency period got the same compo and was in that list.
Who published the list?

Considering we got picks 15 and 23 for Gary Ablett at the peak of his powers, I think it evened out a little bit in the end

Fun fact: you can trace that Motlop compo pick to the future drafting of Tim Kelly and subsequent windfall trade with WCE that resulted in the currency for the Jeremy Cameron trade. We call those sorts a "long rort", harder to pull off but when you nail them they pay off in a big way.

Didn't we end up turning Ratugolea into Humphries as well?

I know Tuohy was effectively traded for Smedts plus a tiny shift in draft order.

Other clubs seem intent on helping us in all rort endeavours.

“his relationship with Morris Finance and Geelong” had been looked at, and it was “in the realms of the soft cap”. “It’s been dealt with that way,” Dillon said.

Another half answer still leaves plenty of questions too.

Just beautifully handled by the AFL. :$
