Geelong rorting the system

Good. Kardinia park holds nearly 40 thousand. Gws stadium has had home finals with less then 20 thousand even though they play in the same city as the scg.

And you just know that gold coast will get home finals at metricon with less than 20 thousand despite the gabba only being an hours drive away.

I’d be supportive of Geelong trying to secure a State of Origin game. Perfect ground for it. The standard AFL dimensions are already perfect for a game of league, just paint two try lines at either end.

Fun fact - I think Geelong has played finals at Kardinia Park before. Correct me if im wrong.

2013 against Fremantle was their first ever KP final. It was their last one.

Which is fair enough. You can’t have a stadium which holds like 15,000 people hosting finals.
Well you can and even better ours is 40k, same or even more than some interstate grounds.

It’s not as if the Gabba is fit to host games yet they do anyway.
Should be and will be demolished.

I do like how you fudge a number to try and make your point. When people do that you know they have a poor argument.

Geelong, Melbourne, Footscray and Richmond are the only 4 clubs to win a premiership (7 between them) this century without playing a final at their home ground during the winning season. Those premierships should be weighted double for degree of difficulty.

But Geelong plays home games at the MCG? You had a free run playing the grand final at your home ground against an interstate side that plays at the G once every three years! Sad!

Yeah like NM play home games in WA.

4 premierships all without a genuine home final is cream of the crop stuff. Brisbane almost did it last year.

Aren't they demolishing the Gabba soon? Kardinia Park eclipsing it in capacity was the final straw. :sadv1:

Good riddance and about time, I know QLD'ers are the peasantry of Australia but the Gabba looks like it belongs in Gaza. They should have done a lot better than that effort

The biggest Geelong/Richmond crowd for a H&A game was just slightly over 70K all the way back in 1980 and there's only been three other games to ever draw 60K. We've had 22 crowds of over 60K against the Hawks since the two clubs had our first H&A game first at the MCG in 2008, half of those are bigger than the biggest ever Geelong/Richmond crowd and four of them over 80K. There's also been seven Cats vs Pies games to draw over 80K since 2007. I mean, even Geelong vs Melbourne once had a crowd of 81K in the 1960s and another of 75K in 2000.

Geelong vs Richmond has never been a big drawing rivalry for the vast majority of either team's fanbase. It's just that this site has a very small but extremely vocal and tedious contingent of Richmond posters who are obsessed with Geelong. It also looks like there's lots of them because they keep getting banned (sometimes even twice in one day) and come back with new accounts every other week.

Humorous and accurate all at the same time Ross: 💯✅😆🤣

RPCB: Not last if in early final games (not prelim) we play Gold Coast, GWS, etc.... can see that final played at Kardinia Park if we are host club.

For sure, that is possible. “Last one” since 2013 was meant, but it is very possible that you could play a final at GMHBA in the future.

I don't see it as a rivalry between the two clubs, it's more that the real Richmond fans don't like Geelong man Steve Hocking.

For me, I just like to talk about what happened after 2020 with Steve Hocking, and how Geelong won the flag in 2022 because their special needs were met by the Geelong man from outside their four walls 🤣🤣🤣

I think Richmond's main rivals will always be Carlton.

It's like how the ancient samurai would commit seppuku as a means of restoring honour to themselves and their families. In this instance the city of Brisbane will demolish the Gabba as a means of restoring their lost honour after being outdone by a regional city in Geelong via Kardinia Park.

Ah yes the extra 2,000 capacity the Gabba has over Kadinia park makes all the difference.

Your new main rivals are North and WCE - battle of the wooden spooners

I thought it was Chin Chin. When Brisbane heard we had a hatted restaurant at GMHBA Stadium they said, "that's it. We gotta demolish the GABBA"

Your mind is going to blow when you find out about the MCG
I do know about that neutral shared ground, which also served as Melbourne's home ground until 1973.
Pity we can’t play at our home ground in finals. You know the most important games.
I would be quite happy to share our ground with a number of other teams, play at GMHBA 15 times a year, have Collingwood upgrade and play out of VIC Park 9 times a year. (whilst never have to play there ourselves)

AND when it comes to finals play teams like Collingwood and Richmond in Geelong whilst finishing lower than them on the ladder.
Now that would be great.
Pity that Essendon can't play at windy hill and Collingwood at victoria park during the regular season
Fun fact: geelong is the only team that never plays finals in its home city.

Fun fact: geelong is the only team that has to play home games outside its home city that is also in its oppositions home city. And this often includes finals when geelong is the home ranked side.
Oh the horror. One wonders how they survive. Geelong play 9 home games per season on their home ground. St Kilda on the hand play all "home games" in docklands, despite training in moorabbin. I know which one I would prefer if I were involved with those clubs
