Re: Geelong set new AFL record

16 quarters won in a row.

apparently never been done before.

not bad. :thumbsu:
St Kilda in 2005 won 17 consecutive quarters over 5 matches.
Quarters 2,3,4 round 16, Quarters 1,2,3,4 rounds 17,18,19 Quarters 1,2 Round 20.

Geelong however is the first to win 4 consecutive matches in all 4 quarters. They can beat St Kilda's record by winnings quarters 1 and 2 next round.

Re: Geelong set new AFL record

Some very telling stats stacking up this year now.
Obviousy top of the ladder with a big percentage differential, most points scored, 3rd least points against (would expect to be least in 2-3 weeks).
Top 2 disposals in AFL (Ablett, Chapman), with Bartel no 12.
And my fav stat....top in Quarters won.
That one to me is the one that reflects best how you're travelling.
All this with little or no input from Ottens, Corey & Rooke.
Feels like a special season is brewing....

Re: Geelong set new AFL record

And if we win at least 15 out of our next 21 games, we'll have the best 100 game sequence.
That 100 game sequence is interesting in that we lost games 8,9 and 10 in 2006, so if we win the next 3 games, our 100 game sequence goes up to 83 which puts us 3rd on the all time greatest 100 games list only 1 behind 1st place. In 2006 we lost 6 of the next 12 games at the start of this 100 game sequence so we are looking pretty good to soon have the best 10,25,50 and then 100 game sequences of all time. Does go a long way in proving throughout history we are the greatest team of all, even though we have under performed in GF's.

20 in a row now. All time VFL/AFL record.
We just won our 20th game in a row at Skilled Stadium too. Should we win the remaining three games we play at Skilled this year (vs North, Brisbane and West Coast), we'll break the record for the longest winning streak at Skilled, which currently sits at 22.
