It's that special time of year and the smell of Spring is in the air.
I'll start off the yearly ritual.
I'll just use my template from last year.
I never thought we had the team to beat (insert team here I said we'd smash a couple of days ago)
We overacheived once again because of our coach.
Obviously this average team was never good enough or will be good enough to win a flag.
So let's get ( insert older injury prone player here ) because I believe this is a great strategy.
Even though I just said we were never good enough from 2011 to (insert year here)

I was thinking more along line of being shrill—like a castrato—in complaint, with the added metaphor of not handling defeat in an especially manly way. Double metaphor. It kinda made sense at the time, but true, perhaps a bit much.
