If you were a new person to the sport and looking for a team to follow Hawthorn would probably be the best bet. At least 1 flag every decade since the 60s. Incredible consistency
They also enjoy a flag in a year ending in a 6

1976,1986.....2026?

Swans are the Greg Normans of Augusta 96.

Fill you full of hope and shit the bed. It's not just a sheet change either. It's a mattress on hard rubbish job.

Can't see much changing.

Book us in for a flogging regardless if it's Hawks, Cats or Lions

They never seem to drop off except for Hawthorn between 2017-23.

Expect to see one of these teams in the Grand Final this Year again. Hawks-Swans looks like a sure bet as with 2014
They never seem to drop off, yet hawks did for ages. Can’t really put them in this bracket

BigVic, What are we going to do with you? Jumping at shadows about either Swans, Cats or Hawks. He's finally lost it.
He's walked away from the game in 50 different posts over the past few weeks, but won't stop reminding everybody of it.

Somebody tell the poor bloke when cricket season is, because I've seen him ask that a dozen times as well.

You are fine as long as you have the academy

Just make a note of the teams BV follows,

1776557919271.webp

  • Collingwood in the AFL. We know how looked after the Pies are with fixturing and a huge supporter base. One of the most successful teams of all time.
  • Man City in the Premier League. A team owned by UAE Sheik oil barons that has literally bought league championships for the past decade. Far and away the most advantaged club in all of worldwide football
  • Celtics. The most successful NBA franchise, literal inventor of the 'Big 3' recruitment strategy and also the reason the NBA had to bring in a salary cap. Also Bird Rights.
  • Barcelona. The most advantaged and biggest club in Spain. Owns La Masia academy and consistently allowed to live in extreme debt by La Liga. Only second to Real Madrid in La Liga championships
  • Bruins. The second most successful USA based NHL team

No wonder he can't cope when his team isn't winning, he just chooses teams based on historic success that are also afforded some of the biggest advantages in their given sport. Surprised he doesn't also follow the Globetrotters

Geelong/Sydney/Hawthorn are the new big 3 when it comes to almost never going out of contention. They were all there 20ish years ago, 10 years ago, and still to this day. It's almost feels like a 2 tier league with some of the head to head records over the other clubs in that time.

All three clubs are in perfect balance with one another as shown on this picture

Three clubs, a perfect triangle.

It’s the farm system that keeps draftees going at 40+ and through the rookie system or just getting overlooked altogether for years at a time until we pick them up for next to nothing. That’s what it is.
I feel sorry (genuinely) for the supporters of teams that used to play where they were named after and prioritised recruiting from there, too. Now they think it's an unfair advantage.

Imagine if we really did get to pick every talented Geelong kid...
