Review Geelong tries its best to lose and finds a way to stagger to a 4 point win over Demons

Thought Atkins was pretty bad today. I was very surprised to see Jack Steven with 17 touches, I thought he was just as bad. I think J Steven will come good, but looked rusty. Actually he was playing exactly like J Cowan - fumbling, slipping over, etc.

If we have others that justify a run, I would consider those two for the chopping block, along with T Stewart a big loss for us. Though there could be merit in keeping J Steven in the team for now.

Thought many were average today, but think Blicavs was our best.

You would think Clark is straight in for T Stewart. Stewart is as big a loss as Howe is for the Pies. Though we should get Stewart back in half a season I guess.

I saw some very limited footage of Cocky in the VFL, he looked slower than usual and a bit over-weight... Ideally I'd like him back in the side for some extra spark, but I reckon he won't be in until late season.

Clark and maybe Parsons might be considered. I'm not a massive fan of Parsons, but think he has improved the last 12 months at VFL level at least, but he just might be the next best available on our list. Not sure if blokes like C Stephens, Taheny, Jarvis, Close are ready.

All game? What part of the game was it employed? We look backwards almost everytime before we even consider an attacking option.
You have the most incredible knack of missing the point entirely.
Re-read and fine tune that comprehension and come back. adults are talking.

His first quarter was utter trash. Spoiled team mates, sold them into trouble, took idiotic options. Our best football last year was without him in the side. Genuinely believe he's a list clogger.

Hate to say it, but the more I see the more Scott reminds me of Mourinho. Defend at all costs and be as arrogant about it as possible.
BS.

If the Hawfs win we go to 6th (them 4th)
Great! Even when we're shit we can't sink low enough to get good picks.
We need the Eagles to suck some serious arse

Because we lack the talent to execute it all game.
Yeah i don't agree with that, everytime i see us move the ball quick we either score or get it deep in our forwardline and until i hear Scott say that we're not good enough or fit enough to execute it for a whole game then the questions will keep getting asked.

Reminds me of this altercation with eth-dog couple of years back. Spoilered as no doubt not many will be interested.

The important part

Same applies here. We want to breed the next gen of Cats premiership players and how will they achieve that if we gift them games and not be made to earn it. Of the guys under 25 in our side not many didn't earn their spot, and keep it on merit.

We need to adhere to those same standards and make these young players PUSH the old guys out.

So, conversely, there's little pressure on the guys in our senior side to perform better?

How are we maintaining a standard there then?

He doesn't have the Mourinho personality, but he does now have the Mourinho tactical approach.

I really, really hate watching Geelong play like this. We are so deliberately stagnant, and it absolutely kills me.

Experiment. Indulge me.

No pressure. Good, ok, poor. List the players in those categories.
Pressured. Good, ok, poor.
On the run (sprinting). Good, ok, poor.

Should narrow down the players that can be classed as good ball users.

We aren't. But I lean towards making them push them out rather than kicking those who have done it before to the curb.

One thing is certain, I would rather a Mourinho then a Garry Monk.

Think it's 4 games he's been missing for this year

At least today he seemed to have a excuse with some sort of injury as he wasn't right, and only played 50% of game time
A slight injury and 50 percent game time would be an excuse if he only had 7-12 touches. Its not an excuse for only one touch. Not even close.

So what you're saying is once Scotty gets Harry Kane, Ibrahimovic and Ricardo Carvalho we'll be unstoppable.

Boring as heck. Not as keen to get up for 4am games now we do have Mourinho.

Massive issues that simply arent being addressed. Players being carried by the old brigade and a gameplan that is truly awful. Talent is there but we arent playing to it. Chris Scott remains the major issue with this club.
He’s been there 10 seasons and we’ve never been further from a flag. Absolute joke. Questions should be asked of the board for the contract extension to him.

Question is ...Why ain't we getting the best out of out star players?
I believe we have many naturally attacking players that work harder in attack than when defending.
Forwards that excel one on one, that want to ball delivered quickly.
Small creative forwards that play best when given the space to find space.
Our defenders look nervous, trying to avoid mistakes, with slow safe play rather than with attacking flair.

Is the team being coached to it strengths or to a theoretical game plan?
Have players been stifled and over-coached?
Who is to blame and how can this be fixed?
