I saw this on the Reddit forum and found it pretty cool given I haven't been down to the Cattery in years.

All cups won in the VFA/VFL/AFL on display.
I'd be interested to know if other clubs do this.
Pretty nice touch to recognise all club history, rather than club history from this competition only.

For instance, I know Carlton have won 22 premierships in their history.
It would be pretty cool to see 22 cups on display at Princes Park.
Then you have Essendon who have won 20 premierships etc.

Thanks Colin. Bit weird and slightly embarassing that you'd commission a bunch of replica trophies in the shape of the VFL/AFL cup to represent VFA flags, being a completely different competition, but I guess there are no limits to your vanity project and people probably won't look that closely anyway to realise.

A bit of trivia about the premiership cup. The VFL first awarded the cup in 1959 and it wasn't until 2004 that they allowed clubs to purchase replicas for premierships won prior to 1959. So, for several years prior to 2004, I used to dine out on the question which club had won the greatest number of VFL/AFL premiership cups. People would opt for Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, etc, but the answer was Hawthorn who won 9 cups between 1961 to 1991 :) The AFL buggered up a really good trivia question :)

I think Colin left weird and embarrassing in the distance some time ago to be honest.

These trophies commemorate the real origins of the game of Australian Football. I'd argue they're just as valuable, if not more, than any recent flags for that innate historical value. It'd be like an Egyptian opining that the pyramid's and Pharaoh's treasures are worthless because they're no longer representative of current Egyptian culture and language.

It's so so dumb and insecure jealous drivel of the magnificent history of 1 of the 2 oldest sporting clubs in Australia.

Sadly the Swans did the same. It's so strange when there's an actual VFA/VFL trophy in existence that a replica can be based off instead.
