Good votes, Dempsey was awesome. I gave him the 1 vote just ahead of O'Connor(also awesome) in the MVP.

Mullin really unlucky IMO, would have given him one ahead of Gryan.

Can't fault the top five though.

Could Bailey win a Brownlow this season ?

Needs to kick more goals. Sounds harsh but his game isn't necessarily that of Cripps who won the Brownlow without having to hit the scoreboard too often at all.
Smith's style is very appealing on the eye and if he can really start to finish his work, he'll be a clear standout.
Currently kicked 4 goals from 9 games. Pencil him down for at least 1 goal this week against the Dogs. He will thrive in the moment.

Blicavs is having a really good run of form. 3 times in the coaches votes over the past month or so I believe. Not bad for a 34 year old fill in ruck!

Cameron with his first coaches votes of the season. He's usually top 3 or so for us in other years. If he starts dominating, look out opposition teams.

O'Connor was sensational, so no surprises there. This was him in the "taking over from Tuohy" mode I hoped he would reach. Better in the air than Zach, not nearly as prolific but he was on the weekend.

Glad to see Dempsey, the best active wingman in the comp (Jaicos is a half back now, and Gulden is injured) rewarded.

Also a return to form for Miers, featuring for the first time this season. I thought besides a couple of dodgy moments he was good against GWS. He is our forward ball movement barometer. Another who can take us far if he is back to his best.

His form suggests he could.

I think this week will be the biggest test, he will be tested physically and mentally. His ability to stay composed and “fair” is probably a bigger test than his ability to outwork a tag in my opinion.

Agree, if he can keep chill, and a lid on swearing/complaining. God forbid, getting sucked in to the rough stuff. He was yelling to the ump That's horrible! That's just a horrible decision! Mind you what else can you say to a free against in front of goal, but the yellow mags have long memories. :)

Miers is our get out option on the HBF to wing. It's been that way since 2022, and we sorely missed him in that role recently. Very smart link man and runner, should not be underestimated. Really pleased for MOC to hit his straps.

Agreed. We are getting very close to having to redefine Miers as a genuine wingman as opposed to a creative half forward. Although he doesn't venture into defensive 50 often, he sticks between the arcs 95% of the time.

Take out his KO'd game against Hawthorn and he has averaged 23+ disposals over his last 6 games. Genuinely prolific.

Really liking his work in the ruck.
Seems to know his limitations in the initial bounce and uses smarts to either distribute or take possession himself. Gets better as the game wears on too. Instrumental in our second halves
(Except for his goal kicking  )

He's just so dependable, especially for his size, doesn't often call for it when he's out-talled (if that's a word) but works to get free. Then he's coming through for the hand pass, always motoring. His kicking style blew us away originally but as Dwayno says, in a backhanded compliment, it works for him.

Actually,it works for us, when Gryan notches up so many assists, and the occasional miracle goal that is now Dempsey's forte. Besides that, he absolutely loves and lives for footy, and was apparently doing it hard on the sidelines.

Yeah, we'd love the four points but in the scheme of things it's still just four points.
We are the notch in the belt everyone wants.
We've also got 9 games vs bottom 10 teams - I'd expect us to win a majority of those.

A handful against Top 8 teams all at GMHBA except the Giants.

We've got nothing to really prove and we've got plenty of opportunities to win enough games to get where we need to get to.

Don't want to get ahead of myself, but in my minds eye, smacking the filth in a PF and then the big one.
Perchance to dream. ;)

The thing I like about our smalls is they "earn" their free kicks by dint of hard work. No "faking it" for high frees. Heck, Miers was king hit.

Definately Miers, Close, Mannagh, Smith or others don't stage. However I'm going to be honest and say I haven't really been impressed with Stengle lately, laying down a bit too long, looking for interference (in the back) petitions Ump. Coincides with a drop in form, may be unaware of what it looks like, and thinks he's right, but hope he gets out of that before it becomes a habit.
