Saw the Cats defeat the Bombers well at Bendigo in a pre-season match - and Hird played. He's in doubt, hopefully Gaz will cow Mark McVeigh again, we should be right. Fingers crossed, anyway.

It's amazing how many times you guys quote how many marks a player takes. At the end of the day we have to KICK goals. If Gardiner, Playfair or Kingsley took fifty marks they still would not be able to kick goals, and that's what they are in the side for. There is no use having 3 guys who combined take 25-35 marks a game and kick 3-4 goals combined.

Finding the pill is the first step. Being able to mark the thing is even better. Next, try and kick it through the big sticks.

I have heard that Mooney is a 40/60 chance of playing at the moment and will see how he trains which would be great if he returned.

Mooney has been named at CHB in the VFL,but don't be suprised if he doesn't play.

Hopefully he does and pulls up okay.Him and Steve Johnson are the 2 players we're missing most.Thankfully Johnson is back.

Have you seen Essendon play lately?
yeah, but with Geelong i have no expectations, therefore i am not dissapointed :D

we kick 8.18 in the AFL, yet we kick 22.9 (not sure) in the VFL.......are the goal posts bigger in the VFL?

Would you prefer a player to take 9 marks and kick 2.5 or a player take 4 marks and kick 3.1?

Not one of the taller forwards looks to have any idea of what to do after they have marked the ball. I can't see any improvement in Kingsley Gardiner Haynes Playfair in the last few years. I admit Henry is moving better and marking stronger but then he just has no idea. He might have to become a Scott Wynd or a Brad Miller and just handball to a runner going past.

Probably the 9 marks. I think a player who takes 9 marks is going to be more valuable in general than someone who takes 4 (even though on that given day you may be one point worse off). Our main problem over the past few years has been finding targets up forward. At least now we have a few viable ones. Teaching them better kicking techniques and how to lead to higher percentage scoring zones is the next step.

Bit harsh on Gardiner too. His kicking is much better than Kingsley's and Playfair's.

Who is teaching them?
When are they going to improve?
I think Ken Hinkley was moved to defence because he couldn't convert.

should win this game fairly comfortably guys. looking at the 2 sides if essendon were within 30 points of geelong when the final siren sounds it would be very disappointing.

can't wait for mooney to come back.

1. Don't know.
2. Don't know.
3. Fair enough, should be someone new then because it's obviously a problem.

I'm very curious about the Ling situation - didn't see the last game but every one seems to mention how slow he was. Hopefully he'll turn things around this weekend - if not, perhaps he needs to see the physio.

I'm not sure about this game - But with Johnno back in the team, I reckon we might have a bit much for the bombers. Especially with Hird out. I can see us dropping this game, but we've had the wood on the bombers recently and we have too much talent, so I reckon we're more likely to get over the line - my guess would be three or four goals. Hope kingsley brings his kicking boots this time!

Is Hird really out?

On Cam Ling - the thing is he always looks stuffed + slow.
Even during the warm up his face gets all red and he looks absolutely knackered.
But the (well last season at least) he is still powering on racking up touches in the last quarter.

Callan only played the first 2 quarters in today's VFL game against North Ballarat. Could come in for Bartel tonight.

How did he go in those qtrs? Did he move well?

Looked fine to me.

He was one player the VFL side missed dearly in the second half. Our lack of ground players was telling.
