In all of the doom and gloom washup of round 17, I nearly forgot that there’s another game in only a couple of days. A new game, a new chance to get my hopes up before sending them crashing down no less than 7 days later… I digress…

Matchups? Who’s in form? Who’s out of form? How many times will Lloyd get a free for diving?

Has anyone watched Essendon lately? How are they travelling?

I have a feeling 'austinthedog' may be known a K.Sheedy with that intelligent and in depth response.

There is no chance the Essendon will overrun the cats this Friday night. The cats will have their backs up after the embarassing performance shown last saturday.

I feel the with the players coming back (Ottens, Enright & Byrnes) will provide the spark that was missing last week and the mighty cats will power away to a comfortable yet frustrating win (we will waste early chances as usual) by approximately 32 points.

With McPhee missing, i dont think the Essendon back line can stand up against our speed and Kent will have a field day as he usually does against the bombers, scarlett wont let Lloyd get near the pill (he might kick a couple in junk time), King will finally show some ruck talent and our midfield will be far to quick.

Cats to win comfortably.

GO CATS!

Cats by 10 goals

Scarlett to dominate lloyd
Kingsley always kills Fletcher
Midfield to dominate and run over the top of Essendon
Josh Hunt to be man of the match playing on the wing

After last weeks effort, you'd be ashamed if we didn't come out with fire up our nostrils!
Seriously, we should beat the bombers...but who cares?
If we beat them, I will walk out of TD totally unsatisfied.
Last weeks effort just sucked big time, and it will take more than just beating an undermanned Essendon to make up for it.

You cannot possibly 'pencil' in a win against any team until the final siren. Any team on their day can beat anyone else if the opposition is not 100% focused. (Remember the doggies last week) Mark my word Essendon will not lay down, it will be a tough hard fought game and the winner will not be the more 'fancied' side on the night but the side who comes to play 100% tough hard footy. Hopefully that will be us!

I couldn't see us losing. If we can't come together and beat Essendon after last weeks lay down and die effort then we don't deserve to be playing finals.

Yes agree with those sentiments as last week just about put me off for life.

I'll be happy with nothing less than a four quarter effort, and an obvious desire to tackle, chase and win the ball.

If we just limp over the line or go missing in parts of the game, it will show everyone that they're not fair dinkum about having a crack at the flag this year.

If the boys are not fired up enough to smash Essendon after last weeks pathetic display, then our season is as good as over.

Geelong by 8 goals.

I'm just hoping they learn and drop Rahilly. Might be a good clubman but he simply isn't up to it. I'm worried about Sanderson too - has been great for us, but he can't handle good forwards anymore. Enright can fill his spot, Byrnes for Rahilly, Ottens for probably Thurley or Koulouritis (both are ok but neither in our best side).

Positives are Steve Johnson got a half of footy in and looked better the longer it went, with Ottens back as well our forward line looks dangerous again. Playfair too will be better after a couple of games. The main thing as always though will be attitude. If they're as desperate as the Port Adelaide game we shouldn't have any problems, if not we're in big trouble - again.

I hope on fri night we play consistently and play like the geelong who is hungry tough and Hard to play against. Really we should win comfortably because we are much more talented side. I think with Enright Otto and hopefully Byrnes to come in those will give us Structure and some pace particularly Byrnes. GO Catters !!!

Dont write us off yet. The times youve beaten us in the past few years, its been the pace through the midfield that has ripped us apart. This time round, Sheedy has finally decided to blood plenty of young guys, and the likes of Monfries, Dyson, Stanton - all have given us a spark and some new life through the middle. Hird returns, McPhee and Rioli will have tests. Looking forward to how we go, because we do seem to lift for the better teams. Its no secret that Geelong are a much stronger outfit and well have to be on top of our games to have a sniff. Lloydy will pop up with his average 4-5, Lucas with his 3-4, depends on how many we can get out of the midfield.

All three played last time when we won by 9 goals.

Matty Lloyd has only kicked 13 in his last 5 games against Geelong.

I wouldn't pencil in 4-5 just yet.
