I hope the Geelong players have the same cocky attitude as some of the geelong posters.
They got that out of their system last week.

No chance for the bombers now.

I'm just hoping they learn and drop Rahilly. Might be a good clubman but he simply isn't up to it.
Ive said it before and i'll say it again: Get of Rahillys's back. He has earnt his spot and he is playing moreconsistant than half our team. He may not have the silkest skill sbut he has earnt his spot playing good footy.

But your right, he will probably be dropped for Enright :(

My only hope for selection is that Cameron Thurley gets another chance.

I've never been a fan and still have huge doubts but i think his desperation, second efforts and courage against Port give him enough money in the bank to survive one shocker.

Believe me, it's not like I enjoy sticking knives into Rahilly's back, there's no doubt he tries his guts out - which is more than you can say for some. But he's been around a long time now and hasn't gone to the next level. At least guys like Tenace and Byrnes are on the way up and improving all the time.

IN : Ottens,Monty,Enright
OUT : Rahilly [inj],Liz and Sando [both dropped]
The end for Sando?

I don't want to be melodramatic and I hope he can get back into the team, but with five rounds left, and the probability that we wil have to scrap for every win from here, if the coaching staff have lost faith in him, he may not get the auspicious end to his career that he so richly deserves. This would be a sad way for him to go.

This throws into sharp relief the number of chances Charlie had this year (Grumble).

Thurley is this week's victim to the match committee crapfest, which previously meddled about with Timothy Callan.

Sanderson being dropped looks like a stern warning. I'd suggest he's unlucky, when you consider the match committee stuck with Kane, but I wouldn't be surprised if he came straight back in for an underdone Enright (how much longer will we throw in underdone players straight back in?).

My take on the game:

WE got done by Freo (a mid-table side) at home. We should never have lost that game, but we played weak, unaccountable football. I thought it was an aberration, and the next week I went along to watch us tear a new a---hole for a struggling bottom four side (Collingwood). Remember that great victory we had against the maggots on a Friday night? Me neither

Last week we got done by a mid table side in a game we should have won by playing weak, unaccountable football. This Friday night we face a struggling bottom four outfit. I'll go along to watch us tear them a new a---hole.

See where I'm going with this?

With this bunch of cruising midfielders and walking wounded ruckmen, I am not at all optimistic. I hope we'll lift, but I have no reason to believe that we will.

Call me wacky, call me kooky, but Bomber might just try a late change. I know it's unlikely, but technically it is in the rules, so he could consider it.

I agree that Tenace was lucky. He was pathetic against the Dogs. His complete failure to attack the man with the ball in favour of gutless 'zoning-off' was possibly the worst thing I saw on the day (big call).

I wouldn't say a late change is out of the books either, going solely by our history of it.

And it's not just last week when I speak of Kane, it's pretty much his whole season. His performances in the VFL throughout the year are hardly flattering, yet the match committee insists on persisting with him (and Charlie for that matter). On the other side of the spectrum, players like Thurley, who earn a game the hard and proper way - through form - are defaultly on the chopping board, with no life line to speak of.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again - it's grossly unfair on these blokes.

Agree. They are trying to justify the high draft selection of Tenace and to a degree Gardiner. I still think both can be quality players, they're just taking a while to mature. Look at Hunt and Playfair - it can happen suddenly. But I concur about Thurley, he's obviously fulfilling the Tim Callan role of first one dropped.

And as controversial as this sounds - I agree about Sanderson. It's harsh and unforgiving, but he simply isn't up to it anymore. We can't afford to carry him just because he's been a loyal servant. It could cost us games.

Let's not get carried away with the Thurley/Callan comparisons - he had a stinker. Cameron Thurley 4 kicks, 2 handballs, 0 marks, 0 tackles and 0 goals.

I'm not saying he was the reason for the loss, but we've got quality players coming back and someone has to make way. Might as well be the bloke who had zero impact the week before.

Essendon 16. 11. (107) def. Geelong 13. 16. (94) at Telstra Dome 7:40 PM AEST

Geelong just had to lift to show anything for the finals tonight, but they didn't, so that's it.

Bring on 2006.
