I am pretty confident that Geelong could beat any side in the competition, but how would we match up against... Ourselves? Geelong's best 22, VS Geelong's best 22?

Now before you trace my IP and send me off to a loony bin, give the concept a chance.

:footy:How would Podsiadly perform against Scarlett?

:footy: Would GAJ have to wear a Ling tag all day?

:footy: What would happen if Mark Blake and Mark Blake had to contest a ball at ground level?

:footy: What would be the best game plan to counter Geelong's free flowing run? and would the Geelong who flooded beat the Geelong who didn't?

This is just a bit of fun, I fully understand the logistical issues associated with cloning players etc. ;)

One thing's for certain, it would be a hell of a match:thumbsu:

ha ha, I just read your comment in the coleman thread and I thought of the same thing.

It would come down to which forward line was accurate. As good as our backline is, both midfields would place it under more pressure than it has seen in a long time.

Oh, and Gaz would destroy Lingy. Pray he doesn't go to the GC

Yeah, I just wrote the comment and was hit by how amazingly awesome it would be to see us play ourselves (and not in the sense i play myself everytime pods kicks a goal).

I think Ling would shut Selwood out of the game, and SJ would carve up our defense...

There would be so many epic match ups all over the field...

Midfield battle would be huge.

Ling V Ablett
Bartel V Corey
Wait.. Selwood V Bartel. But what about Corey?

Ottens pushing forward wouldn't work for the other Ottens, so I guess Lonergon would take Ottens if he was resting forward and the other Ottens would ruck against Blake. Blake would get smashed, so I guess the original Ottens should stay in the ruck and not go forward.

Our defence should be too strong for our forwards, but im not sure how we will match up on Chapman/SJ. Wojo on Byrnes should be a good battle. Byrnesy will have to chase hard.

I can't see our forward beating our defence, and our rebounders of Enright/Mackie kicking to our forwards would be too much for our forwardline to handle.

I think.

Great post, well i think it was a great post but my brain is a bit too muddled to figure it out.

The ruck contests would be vital considering how even the midfields would be (exactly even) I think if hawkins went up against Ottens he would be slaughtered but he may just be able to break even with Blake and hurt him at ground level.

Harry Taylor would towel up Mooney but I think the guys like Johnson Chapman and Ablett floating forward would be a bit much for Hunt, Wojac (is he best 22?) and friends. Too much talent to completely control.

Imagine if the Max Rookes collided, pretty sure the resulting crater in the turf would cause the game to be called off.

If that didn't do it, the Joel Selwoods crashing in for a loose ball sure would.

Possibly the most bizarre post ever on this board, but still interesting! Personally I'd not even attempt to tag Gaz. I'd play my best onballer against him (which I guess would be Gaz). I'd play Ling on Selwood and maybe a second shutdown player on Chapman.

Harry and Scarlett would dominate whoever they were on. Enright on Stevie would be an interesting matchup, which would probably be decided as much by the bounce of the ball as anything else. Varcoe would be impossible to control if he's at his best - too strong for our fast players and too fast for our strong ones. Stokes and Shan might also cause some strife.

OK I give up my brain hurts too...

So assume I am coaching Geelong team A (I have no idea how my own thread works), I would actually give Lingy a chance against GAJ.

People often point out the Ling is too slow to tag the quick blokes, but he absolutely destroys Boomer Harvey... I would definitely attempt a tag on GAJ, but if he went forward and dragged Lingy to the back line I would be in trouble, the I think plan B would just have someone to iron him out. Maybe just get Dasha to clean him up.

With that problem solved, I would have an extra rotation, though team B's Cameron Mooney would no doubt have hospitalised team A's Darren Milburn.

I'd tag him for a half and see what happens. If Gaz is on, then Gaz is on.

But I might chuck Team B Gaz on him. Team A Gaz would hate to see Team B Gaz ripping it up and play a touch more accountable.

I'd be worried about Lonergon V Podsiadly. Pods has him covered in terms of contested marking.

As I said in another thread, Pies by 18 points. Maybe more if footy's karma gods are reading this thread.
A thread that has nothing to do with anything but a bit of fun? **** me, if karma has anything to do with it, Cats will win by 76 points just to shut you up.
