Opinion Geelong: what do we have to do to beat them?

We need Scott Selwood back in good form, start of the year he was one of the best in th AFL.

His clearance work has dropped of so has his spread, we have adam selwood and mcginnity to tag, Scott needs
to start attacking again. He has honestly been our worst full time mid over the last 6 weeks he has dropped away on all
his key statistics.

odds for this one have lenghened, not too much confidence in our boys...
Dont mind being the underdog again, i think the boys will have alot to prove this friday night.
And i think they will prove it.

Scooter must be injured - something that he can play through but reduces his impact. I am no doctor but I would think something like a low-grade groin injury or back-related problem that hasn't cleared up properly. He just doesn't have the pace that he had at the start of the year.

Someone on here mentioned that on the TV immediately after Collingwood game they saw S.Selwood in our changerooms with an icepack on his groin. At first I disregarded this as routine post-game maintenance that a lot of players go through.

But with the benefit of hindsight it was around that time that Selwood's form started to wane and in the last 5-6 weeks he's dropped off a cliff. He's certainly looked sluggish across the ground in recent weeks.

Pray this isn't the start of some kind of OP issue.

The other possibility is that he's getting some complications from the back surgery he had in the off season. There seemed a fair bit of secrecy surrounding that, the reporting in the media at the time was pretty vague.

Here are Scotty's clearance numbers:
4,7,3,7,5,9,3,7,4,5,5,3,11,2,9,3,3,3
And his contested possesions:
4,7,12,12,5,16,6,12,8,10,5,3,16,5,13,4,5,4
A couple of things stand out. One, there are hardly ever 2 big numbers in a row. A contested game is followed by an uncontested game - sort of. And secondly, the last 3 weeks have been pretty dire for Scotty.
His tackle numbers also have some peaks followed by troughs, but in the last 3 weeks his numbers were 3,8,and 6 - quite high.
Looks to me like he has trouble maintaining intensity two weeks on the trot which may suggest he really hurts after a contested game and has trouble putting together two or three big games in a row.
However, just had a look at team totals and he is in the top 3 for the season in each of those categories ... So - overall he is doing well, but varies greatly from week to week.

So, a journalist sets out our problem that has been evident since the Collingwood game and our coaching staff has done nothing to counter the tactics... odd.

Not sure if its been metioned previously, but last night on League teams parko mentioned we are at the end of an intensive training cycle pre finals.
He reckons this is the main reason for the drop off in intensity. And the past few weeks worth of training will hold us in good stead come finals.
Apparently this sort of thing is becoming more popular, i think the cats did it last year something??
Thoughts, has anyone heard the same thing?

Can't see the point if it means you miss out on top four because you lose games.

Maybe so, but we might miss the finals if we don't start winning. No point training intensely for finals if you don't make it..

Or we could win the next 3/4 and make finals, and do it with a mini pre season behind us with unheralded results and take the comp by storm..
Lets get positve people, its not over yet! i feel we have every chance tonight, and the boys will be out to turn it around after a dissapointing couple of weeks.
