Not that they will line up like that but Playfair CHF and Gardiner FF gives me the shakes.

Guys like Callan, Playfair, McCarthy, and Mackie are either icky to start with, or just flat out not fit enough/injured to even be considered this week.

B: Hunt Scarlett D.Johnson
HB: Milburn Egan Enright
C: Tenace Bartel Rooke
HF: Mooney Gardiner Kelly
F: G.Ablett Kingsley Chapman
R: Blake Ling Corey

INT: Batchelor, N.Ablett, Koulouriotis, Prismall, Spencer, Byrnes

If the temp rises, Bomber could/should squeeze in young Stokes and Teddy.

I know these days positions are really passe buit Id like to see some less secured players start the match.I mean its Carlton and its pre-season, lets see how they swim in the deep end when the result matters little

I like that lineup, wouldn't mind seeing Stokes in there as well if he's fit, but I just couldn't start Scarlett on the bench. Put him on the HBF and let him just run off his opponent and cut off everything :D

Why is everyone having Gardiner as the CHF? Why not give the spot to someone else, i.e. Todd Grima. Give the young guy a start, IIRC Rookies can play NAB cup, so it'd be interesting to see how this guy does. I'd much prefer to find out now rather than waiting until we have a long term injury.

Grima rolled his ankle in the intra-club the other day.Maybe that's why some haven't included him.

No way would you play Charlie at CHF.Frank Spencer would be a better option.

Yeah agree, no way Charlie should be playing CHF. I noticed Mooney dominated at CHF in a intra-club game. Could be given first crack. I would rather have Spencer at CHB with Harley out. Looking forward to Egan and Spencer dominating the backline and pressing claims for Round 1.

Mooney might play CHF,but you would prefer to have a player play CHF for the whole game.Mooney will probably rotate between half forward and midfield during the game.

That's my 24 from Geelong Blog. Only unlikely one would be West who is possibly just not ready for seniors yet, but I thought the Second ruckman was needed. It could possibly be King though if some reports are correct that he is ready to go on Saturday.

C'mon you know the big H is a superstar. Imagine how good he will be with Barry Stoneham down there now passing on his knowledge. :thumbsu: :)
For once jubjubjubjubjubjubjub is on the money. The word coming out of the club after the practice games was that they would not risk anybody that has a slight injury. If Henry didn't participate in those 2 games I would have thought he would be a certainty to miss and maybe play a half in the reserves. If he had been fit, these would be the perfect games to play him in to see if he has improved (he couldn't have possibly gone backwards, surely).

The addition of Barry Stoneham to the coaching panel is another topic completely. Lets hope he is in the same mould as Jeans, Pagan and Hafey. Ordinary players but great coaches.

Fair enough, so i assume Henry would be in your best 18 then.

As I have stated before I would start the year with 3 of Henry, Lonergan, Kent and Nablett in the side. I would rotate them between CHF, FP, the bench and the reserves. I would give them equal opportunity in each spot and I would leave that rotation going for about 11 weeks. That should give you a clear indication of the pecking order for the remainder of the season.

Not a silly idea but i reckon after 6-8 weeks you would know the pecking order.

My NAB Team

FB Hunt Spencer Milburn

HB Enright Egan Scarlett

C Prismall Ling Batchelor

HF Kelly Longergan Gardiner

FF Chapman N.Ablett Kingsley

F G.Ablett, J Corey, Blake

Int: Bartel, Mooney, Rooke, Mackie, Callan, Slade

Reason for such a weak team = Give the boys a go at the big time.

I would even like to see West, Grima, etc get a run in one of the four games.

Wouldn't be surprised if Teddy, Lonergan, and Slade all got the cut along with the skipper.

A good oppurtunity to give the younger guys a taste, but not as a collective bunch all at once.
