I guess there is the possibility that Robinson introduced Danks to some players on an individual level and that they may have pursued something outside of the club. But there is no evidence or even anecdotal stories of this. Likewise the unusual treatment of Rooke and his trip to Germany may also want to be ticked off, but I would put that down to due diligence.

If either the AFL or ASADA had genuine concerns, we would be being investigated now.

Everyone gets paranoid when being investigated, but we shouldn't be.

All the Rooke 2007 stuff, SJ in 2011 stuff has ALL been above board with AFL consent and visibility at the time it's occurred.

My mail is that Robinson wanted to get Dank involved and Steve Hocking vetoed it. That might be because he smelled dodgy or whatever but I suspect it has more to do with Dank being, at heart, a snake oil salesman. He got sacked from Essendon because he went massively overbudget buying drugs like AOD, which as we now know have little if any effect. The pitch might have appealed to a club like the Dons with money to burn and looking to make up lost ground in their overall football programs but not to Geelong, which has comparatively high football department spending compared to overall revenues.

I think it was actually reported in the press, then on here, that Hocking and someone else went north to interview Dank then came back and said no.

But, of course, back in 2007:
From his office at Skilled Stadium, Robinson, the club's strength and rehabilitation manager, is in almost daily contact with Sea Eagles' fitness consultant, Steve Dank.
"It is satisfying to have had a hand in both and Steve has also had a big input here, even though he is not on the payroll here and never has been," Robinson said.
"We discuss ideas and philosophies and a lot of them are common to both the Sea Eagles and the Cats."

Interesting comment by Caro - http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-warned-hird-against-peptides-20130716-2q2ih.html

Further decreases the likelihood of Geelong becoming embroiled.

Evidence has also emerged suggesting that Hird's senior assistant, Mark Thompson, cautioned the Bombers' coaching group and football staff against the injecting program. Thompson, one of the last witnesses to give evidence in the investigation, is believed to have voiced concerns about the multiple injections and off-site intravenous program carried out by bio-chemist Stephen Dank.

We did do a bit of blood doping when it was legal, now it's illegal under WADA rules so we don't do it anymore. But loads of clubs did it too back then, now they go to Arizona instead. I'd be really surprised if it came out Geelong was doing anything that contravened the rules. The weak link in our story was Bomber and it looks like he was not happy with the program at Essendon. Hird was the driver of this debacle, not Bomber as some tried to say early on when it first came out.

Must be some weird heavy chit, that AOD-9604.
First it makes all the Essendon players forget for 12 months what it was that they took.
Then, fortunately they all remember that it was AOD-9604.
However, unfortunately they all experience another mass hallucination where they "remember" it's legal (which it's not) because ASADA told them it was (which it didn't).
One can only hope all the poor buggers get their "memories" straight soon.

Ha ! I said right from the start that Essendon were tipped off.

Essendon have been running with the line "We were the ones that asked for the investigation. We initiated this"

Oh sure. And it was pure coincidence that the ACC came out only days later to reveal an 18 month conversation.
If Andy D made a phone call he has made the biggest mistake of his career.

I like the guy, but he will be toast if it's true.

I always thought that they were tipped off and told to come out and announce it all....
Evans reckoned he was snooping around the weekend before... just so happened to be the week that Barrett was going to announce it all on the footy show? Why didn't he snoop round when essendon where threatening the age with legal action for wanting to mention the story in November?

I don't think there's anyone out there who didn't think the Bombers were tipped off.

Everything Essendon have done since 'coming out' has been lies and diversion tactics orchestrated by those above.

Haven't really read much but is this enough for that fat man's down fall or will he be able to 'splain it away?
Lawyers and Federal Ministers never lie. Their version of the truth is simply under constant review to pull the doubters into line. Once an acceptable truth has been agreed upon they will announce their findings, hand out VIP GF passes to ASADA officials, hang James Hird, then take well earned vacations. The Fat Man has nothing to worry about.

Good points CF
The Essendon program seemed to be developed and implemented by Dank / Robinson - players were told the progam pushed all boundaries , was on the cutting edge of sports science but legal.
Sports science moves pretty quickly so I doubt that someting that was on the cutting edge in 2011 as a product or process would have been around in 2007.
That , together with Dank being remote from the Club and Lingy saying they weren't injected should give us all some comfort......I hope

Hmm Robinson will be in a tell all interview on Monday and he says Hird approached him for the Supplement program, started before Anzac day last year and ran til August.

From a Geelong point of view, I hope he's right so that means we would be in the clear.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/riled-robinson-to-tell-all-on-hird-20130727-2qrac.html

Robinson's version of events is that Hird was the instigator of the supplements program. Fairfax Media understands he is prepared to discuss an important meeting with sacked sports scientist Stephen Dank and Hird at Hird's home soon after he came aboard in September 2011.
[/quote]

Robinson is expected to confirm reports in Fairfax Media detailing how the injecting program took a twist after the Bombers were sent to the South Yarra clinic Hypermed during a short break leading into the Anzac Day blockbuster in 2012.
This led to the injecting program continuing until August, an invoice of about $60,000 and the eventual sacking of Dank.

Obviously I dont know the guy, but Bomber doesnt really strike me as someone who would condone that sort of shit, which is why I wasnt worried about it in regards to Geelong. Not to mention, the Cats have been looked at since 07; surely if there was any potential dodginess at all if would have been uncovered. There hasnt even been any rumors other then teh fact that Dank and Robinson had some sort of friendship and affiliation.

Pretty sure he let it slip (in an interview?) that he told them to cut that shit out/ don't get involved.
