Harsh. Freo doesn't play a perfection-based game though and pretty sure the mantra is created opportunities to attack are worth any potential risks or mistakes. Certainly, Gemma created overwhelmingly more opportunities to score from her full-throttle play than were given up. Also Freo's attacking style leaves them more exposed on the turnover, which isn't attributable to Houghton. No doubt she was the matchwinner on the day.
She plays high risk/high reward, which I love but it doesn't mean you don't take it into account when it doesn't come off.

Well if it's part of your team strategy it'd be counterproductive to punish someone for it. Plus the "turnover" that lead to that last quarter goal was more due to an errant bounce and (all-too-common) overzealous/dodgy umpiring decision (which was after her winning the ball and running it 50m from a tightly contested situation).

I was watching some of the Old East games and Wilson played the high risk game.

Most of the time it worked.

Just to live with mistakes especially if it comes off more than 50% of the time.

Depends on the family’s preference I’d say. The ex-WA wine co is spelled the same and everyone pronounces that Horton.

Yep, I was going with Horton, as in Houghton Ford.

I was sure that when Joel was on our list, we went with the wine merchant & car dealerships pronunciation.

Whatever Gemma wants, we’ll go with it.

I think the assumption when Joel was on the list was that it was pronounced like the winery and Ford mob. I’m assuming that’s the ‘correct’ weird-arse pronunciation of a word that could be Hofton or Hooton or Horton or Howton or Hoton. Stupid language, English.
When Gemma was first listed it was the same deal, and then the call came through for commentators to call her Howton. Some still get mixed up then usually correct themselves. But definitely Howton.
