Agree. How many sellouts do you you hear about and then see the crowd as 85k? Heaps.
85k will be a great result and that is what i expect.
Was in New York recently and desperate to get to Madison Square Garden to see something, anything.
Nicks were playing Clippers and the game/season is sold out but you can buy tickets online at stubhub.com. Just makes sense that a reserved seat holder can sell his seat if he's not going to be there and someone wants to pay (like me). Price was "overs" but not ridiculous. And it means that the stadium is as full as it can get. Should do it here and ticket the members/AFL members.

This is why I am going to have to upgrade from an 11-game home membership to something better next year. Will definitely have to grab the area where you and Stuey are.
Blockbusters and sell outs are going to be more frequent from here on in. I need a more comfy seat on the Tiggy Train Bandwagon.
Good point Tugga. Assuming we start finalling regularly - and we are going to - the likes of Round 1 nad this Dreamtime are going to become nailed on "clasicos" drawing huge crowds. People need to be aware that he days of Tigers V the likes othe Blues and Bombers trending at about 60,000 are over and if we want to attend games we have to plan for it.

Surely u jest, i am an Richmond AFL member and on the first day of sale in early April M undercover (ground level), N undercover Level 2, 3rd Level P sec were close to sold, im pretty happy that i bought my 8 tkts on the first day of sale in April and got M undercover ground level....ground Level M sec (open) has been selling for steadily over the past month but that also sold out more than a week ago so that left top level Q sec and the only available seats as of 4.20am is "single seats only" and that was in Q28 pretty sure that's the last bay....anyway im guessing by today Friday all available seating will be sold out, if MCC member's roll up in force which i think they will with all the hype and a nice day forecast a crowd of 90K is on the cards....

whoo hooo shared gate!!!!
Ticketek is misleading, they tend to sell up to a certain row, then move on to the next bay. I've checked quite a few times this week and have never found tickets higher than about row W. in comparison to general reserve, which is offering me MM, there are plenty of seats in the afl section empty. here's hoping the afl gives some of those seats to the public, because it wont sell out.

sorry mate but what part of my post did u not understand about certain levels sold out, yes ur rite at the time of sale re selling bay by bay but i speak more for the AFL reserve "not public seating" and ive been buying tkts for a decade in that area and know the ins and outs of how seats are released....AFL reserve will be if not already completely sold out, do not say there are plenty of seats because there is not, look whether its the AFL reserve, public reserve or Essendon reserve seat holders if they dont roll up for whatever reason on the nite it affects the crowd somewhat but every seat has been pre-sold...

I have used both stubhub and the official Ticketmaster exchange website for NBA and NFL tickets, and while I love the concept, the markups on face value were excessive in both cases.

It could be a really good tool for big MCG clashes, but they would have to cap the prices to prevent profiteering. Also the MCC would never allow this open throwing of the doors to the riff-raff.

For starters, the post you originally quoted me was from over 24 hours ago. Yesterday I was getting offered seats in the first 15 rows in Q27/28, today Row Z around in Q16. Why would they be selling such good seats if they were close to selling out? Any AFL members trying to get tickets for tommorow nights game should have no problem upgrading if they do it soon.

And when you compare it to how the Cats/Pies game has been selling in the AFL, they were offering AA and beyond a couple of days ago, and now they've definately sold out in the AFL reserve, they are now selling Standing room tickets only. dons/tiges is no where near that stage.

No worries with any of that. Capping prices should be easy enough thru the official ticket site and as far as the MCC goes...don't start me. The Melbourne Cricket Club ffs by virtue of history gets to control the gate at a Richmond Essendon game of football, and leave empty seats. AFL should point the gun at them.
An idea for the MCC...why not sell leftover tickets to riff raff? Make sure he's dressed appropriately, charge him overs on a once off basis. Reality is MCC don't give a shit about empty seats, the AFL should.

TV is shit for AFL. Almost unwatchable.
I am a rugby league fan as well and that gane was made fir TV as all he play is unfolding within camera shot.
That is why their crowds are not great and why crowds at AFL games are phenomenal.
The reason AFL crowds are higher is because the AFL is more popular than the NRL.

FFS how did I forget Anzac Day lol

How does that game fall 15k short of capacity just out of interest? You would think it would get 100k every year?
Yep, you would think so considering a lot of interest from non competing teams' supporters due to being Anzac Day.
Weather was crap on Anzac Day. Might have kept MCC members away? Although for the general public who buy a ticket and then simply forfeit it and not attend due to weather, it seems strange. Having said that, I have purchased many airline tickets and simply been a no-show for various reasons, so I guess I can see why it happens.

And if you wanted to see something really funny, it was me (with bride in tow) running around NYC holding iPhone with tickets downloaded but no way to print them. And the game had started.
Eventually got it done across the road from MSG at Penn Hotel and was duly loaded with beer plus hotdog before halftime.
Ripper experience.

I just got standing tickets in Bay M15, in line with the top of the 50 metre arch. Pretty happy with that. I just kept clicking the 'search for another ticket' button until something I liked came up. Really excited about this match!

Standing room means standing room doesn't it? Nobody can tell you where to stand. You can stand anywhere.

4.9mill plus 3.9mill plus 1.3mill equals 10.1mill which is more than 6.6mill plus 1.5mill (8.1mill).
Have you even looked at the table? The 'almost always' column per capita suggests a rugby league win anyway, even without taking the hard figures into account.
Your ignorance is astounding. If you are going to provide statistics, at least make them suit your argument, not defeat it.
Run along now.
