Haven't heard that rule before. Caller may be right, who knows? The reason I called it illegal is because you are not allowed to throw the ball in the air, whether it's to yourself, to another player, or attempting to handball.
IMO it is perfectly legal as long as he gets boot to ball (which he did). If Moore go hands to it first (throw) or he missed the kick (illegal disposal) but neither of these things happened.

Fair enough, but you're still not allowed to throw the ball to yourself, and by tossing it upwards, that's what you're doing.

If Sicily got a week for each of his two "indiscretions" Motlop should be looked at for his cheap shot. and Motlop falls into the serial 'bad boy' category.

Doggies winning this one would be nice but I'm not gonna hold my breath. They still handball too much.

Me neither. I believe the AFL Ok’d the decision.......although that doesn’t say much

I've seen players on their backs on the ground throw the ball in the air, towards their feet, in order to get a legal kick away. There is nothing in the rules that the ball must only be propelled by gravity, or that it's trajectory must only be downward, or straight..

Ball to foot = legitimate kick

Only the single replay, so will only be a fine.

Generally it is; no replay/mention: no penalty
1-2 replays with a "stupid move" comment - fine
3+ replays - weeks

There is something in the rules to prevent you propelling the ball in the air with one hand. It's called a throw. Trouble is, people are so used to umpires not officiating by the written rules these days, I'm not surprised they don't know this.

No it's not.

A release by hand as a disposal to another player is a throw.

A release by hand to your foot is a kick.

Box Hill Hawks.
I'm still laughing at the decision to award Daniher mark of the year when Howe from Collingwood took a far more difficult and spectacular grab. All the little agendas in the AFL is almost sickening to a degree. Then again, we see it in the workplace all the time, special favours being given to a select few, that's life I guess.

As for the Higgins goal, it was illegal and should have been called for a throw. However, I'm glad they didn't pay the free as it was a ripper of a goal :)
I thought it was a throw at first, but it wasn't it went straight from one hand to his foot. A little like how girls kick.

The afl said today that technically it was a throw.

How Zak Jones only got 2 weeks doesn't surprise me but it sure as **** makes me mad. Sydney have been getting a freakishly easy time from the AFL and if those 2 offences were from any other player from another team it would have been at least 4. The double standards in this season have been ridiculous.
