The game simply confirmed that incorrect disposal is a rule that the umpires simply refuse to pay.
If the perfectly tackle is laid and the player “releases” the ball then it’s play on.
Attempt to kick the ball and miss it whilst tackled - play on
In our efforts to imitate American sport you can now simply hand the ball to a team mate when tackled.

They tell me it keeps the game flowing
The only time they'll pay it is if you go for the "double" handball. If after the first attempted handball is still within your grasp, and you punch it again, you'll get pinged.

Better off to just let it go, than to try and knock it on a second time to clear your area.

All very simple really.
Essendon supporters yesterday lived up to their well deserved name - scum.

But the coup de grace yesterday was courtesy of God !
He arranged for the attendees at the official Essendon MCG lunch to get food poisoning.
Apparently the chicken and rabbit terrine!

Laugh? I could have cried.

Did they forget to add the TB4 to the terrine?

Essendone can't do without it.

Would've thought the Treloar getting into Baguely's face was a lot worse than anything in our game against the Bulldogs, but it wasn't the rule of the week.
I thought the way Treloar lowered himself down on top of Baguely he was about to out himself and make babies.
Ewwww.

Hey does anyone know why the Stephen Coniglio thread on the mainboard has been locked / closed? Abasi Gralin

If its only locked are the mods just going to filter out all the off topic stuff or is it goneski not that it matters because I was blocked from it anyways for supposed trolling. FWIW I've never been blocked from any threads before and I wasn't trolling so it obviously only takes a couple of people to report you for something they disagree with you about. I will bite my tongue for now but if / when we land Cogs I will more than likely be banned from a lot more main board threads :moustache:

They've locked it. Essendon trolls were nailing us left, right and centre. In anticipation that we're gonna get him. Kept slamming us over the Wingard deal. I've never seen such hate.

You're absolutely right.
Hand balling now is merely optional.

In every game there are many many instances of incorrect disposal - where the ball is just handed off - or dropped in a tackle. The two handed give to team mate is now commonplace.
Also common place is the situation where a player is held by one arm when his other arm holds the ball. Often the player will try and kick the ball. But generally he'll just stand in the tackle, holding the ball to his chest, waiting for the umpire's whistle for a ball up. That's dead set holding the ball of course (or used to be) but I'm sure coaches have just instructed their players to wait for the whistle rather than try and dispose of the ball. In terms of percentages, it's a better risk for the player with the ball to just hold it and wait for the stoppage rather than risk incorrect disposal and a free kick.

All of this is bloody annoying and is creating enormous spectator dissatisfaction.

That’s why getting blocked from that tread pi$$ed me off so much because it was one specific Essendon poster and also one who’s a mod who would’ve been the ones who reported me. It was clearly trolls calling others trolls. I know one of them didn’t want to hear that Essendon were sloppy seconds as Shiels FA destination. FWIW I was having good solid back and forth with the GWS poster IssacCummins and even though he disagreed with my opinion I thought our debate was fair.

Anyways that Cogs thread seemed to gain a lot of neutral fans that didn’t want to hear anything of the sort of Hawthorn being a destination for Cogs. You had all the neutrals saying they think he’d stay or go to <insert any other club> but Hawthorn. What does that tell you about where we stand?
They're getting in early mate. They can't handle it.

Lol Barrett taking aim at Hawks supporters in his Sliding Doors. Ignores the booing yesterday and says Sheil had a good game...
Agree. It's simply ridiculous that Barrett makes an issue of the Ablett booing but is silent on yesterday's booing.
FWIW, any booing of that nature is pretty sh*thouse, but if you're going to boo someone, then the best target is a religious nutter who likes old testament comments about homosexuals deserving to burn in hell. He's entitled to that view I guess, but the crowd is also entitled to voice its disagreement.

In summation - booing some players crosses the line.

Essenscum flogs booing Pendles while he’s being presented a medal by a veteran on ANZAC Day - completely kosher.

The pro-* favouritism coming from AFLHQ is just more and more transparent. Eagerly awaiting the rule change next year where only teams who wear red and black and start with an ‘E’ can have 19 men on the field.

Not just Old Testament. Pretty sure Folau's post was an interpretation of Corinthians 6:9-10. But that is a discussion for another time.

As for booing, I am all for it. What I am against is the tendency for the media to beat it up as being driven by racism and so on. Why can't I boo Ablett, not for his religious view, but merely because he plays for Geelong?

Generally if you have a question like that you should look at who mods the board and sent them a Convo with the question. Mods can't see what is happening on board they don't look after.
If you don't get a response from the board mods you can try a Super or Admin

Except players like Winmar and Goodes were booed because of their race and it was appropriate for the media to come out against that. And also to come out against people like Eddie McGuire regarding his disgraceful comments about Goodes and King Kong. I don't regard that media reaction as a beat up.

I wonder if you can get a stat on how long he holds the ball for?
He treats it like a hot potato, plays the old, your problem now, not mine.
Softer than butter is McGrath.
Yet he gets talked about like he is a star. He isn't, No one ever bothers to watch the guy closely just go the default position of " He is a rising star and a star of the game "

Disagree about Goodes, but I am not going to open up that old chestnut again. You have a point on the rest, including the King Kong incident.

He rejected the notion that booing may have increased in intensity, saying that the Essendon v Collingwood match, and the booing of Gary Ablett earlier in the week on Easter Monday, were the first incidents this year.

Did they ever watch any game this year? Our first game against Adelaide, Gunner was getting booed the whole game. Sicily was booed profusely by the saints crowd at Marvel stadium (closed roof). How come they claimed that Ablett booed was the first this year?!?!

I wish AFL will stop confusing people. Just banned the boo if they dare to do it, and start focusing their energy on fixing more substantial issue.

And just how do the AFL ban booing? If they want crowds, they have to take everything that comes with it. We are not playing polo, FFS.

Perhaps they could get rid of all the hot dogs and chips and beer and sell tea and scones.
