Nick Maxwell had no Hawks in his team, Rohan Connolly only has Jack Gunston

always good for a laugh
Yep, those were the two ones I was thinking of :p I actually thought I must have misheard Maxwell's as I thought he must have had a least one Hawk in there.

Maxwell not having Hawks, whatever it's Maxwell

Connolly did his usual here is my excuse for player x missing out, and apparently the only Hawthorn defender that should be in consideration is Gibbo, the only midfielder hard done by Mitch and the only Hawks forward in contention Gunners is in.

All of these articles are click bait/discussion starters anyway.

The thing I find funny about these teams is the persistence of creating an "All Star Team" not a world beater. They pick their favorites not the most balanced team.

It really is a slow news week when the the feigned shock horror of Hawkin's MRP ban still has legs. And sooky twin nbr 2 is joining the party (whereas deep inside he'd have to be pretty pleased to not have to worry about Hawkins this week)

Do the Scott brothers ever shut the f*ck up?

Their "woe is me" prattling is becoming exceedingly boring. Not to mention that it always screams of self-interest.

They really are sooks aren't they? Hawkins punched him deliberately in the face and not at all in the course of play. How many weeks would Hodge get for the same thing?

I think they both need either the wah wah wahmbulance or a cup of cement each so that they can both harden the fcuk up.

I remember the 1991 Hawthorn Premiership side, not one of our players from that year was selected in the All Australian team and we finished second on the ladder after the home and away season.

I imagine them as kids, in tears because they both wanted to suck from "lefty". And they never quite got over it.

Should definitely be considered. But is a less obvious choice compared to the other couple players competing for a KPD spot.

Rioli would be my first small forward picked. Betts will get the other pocket on account of his goal tally.

Gunston plays a highly versatile utility role all over the field but has kept up with a KPD level goal average. Easily makes a forward flank or at minimum the bench.

Frawley also hard done by - he has defended against all but north of the teams in the 8 and his stats more than stack up against talia and Rance
He seems to be invisible this year, I don't think he has been beaten once and never seems to get any kudos.

I note Derm is saying in the Fox Footy round table that Hawthorn's inability to kick scores this year is an issue, does he actually watch football or just talk about irrelevant rubbish when he commentates games, think its the latter.

North - averaging 103 points a game
Sydney - 102
Geelong - 104
Dogs - 91
Hawks - 99
GWS - 108
WC - 102
Ade 114

Sorry Derm, yes we are not scoring as much as we have in the past but we are hardly miles off the pace and considering our draw/injuries I don't think scoring is the issue, its the fact that we are letting other teams score against us that has been the biggest issue, GWS and Geelong in particular got a hold of us with their scoring.

I dare say that after we have played the Bombers and GC in the next 3 weeks our points for will be on par or ahead of most of the top 4 teams.

The biggest issue for us in the second half of the year is going to be controlling games for longer periods and preventing teams from going on scoring runs against us, Melbourne for eg on the weekend, we had the game under control in the 2nd quarter then 15 minutes later they are back level, that has happened most games this year, if we can start to control games for longer periods then our % and scoring ability will go up.

Personally, I wouldn't have Rioli. If anything I pick Breust first out of the 2. He's been more consistent.

Rance and Talia are definitely get more plaudits but Frawley has been every bit as good, if not better. He is starting to get recognition though. If you look at the AA thread on the mainboard, more and more people are starting to pick him. I've been pushing his case since Round 2.

I was watching Hawks Audi Player of the Month vid which Isaac Smith won . In Chris Fagan's presentation speech he mentioned some of the position's Issie has played, and I'm sure I heard him mention one of the position he has played was "chaos". Was I hearing things correctly? Anyone else pick up on that?
Edit: It's mentioned at about 1 minute mark.

Surprised Smith was picked. I would have thought Gunston or Frawley would win it. Smith has been getting a lot of the ball and breaking lines, but has also made some bad mistakes with his ball use at times, too (he was probably Bog for us against Dee's, but otherwise he's been in mixed form imo - one of our better players but not as consistent as Chip or Gunner) .
