GWS learning the harsh reality of being the AFL's love-child. The generous patronage Of AFL House comes with certain, er, obligations and the primary concern... the almighty $$ will sway all decisions. That there is talk of playing future games on that disgusting Olympic Stadium is just plain wrong.

They couldn't use Spotless because of capacity issues?

Maybe if they opened up all the grandstands, unlike their H&A games, they wouldn't have this issue. They're kidding themselves if they think they'll get more than 24,000 to a final against anyone other than the Swans.

More to the point, Geelong played their finals at the MCG up until a few years ago when there were capacity issues.

This isn't a "GWS" thing. They need to get over themselves.

Yeh, love the comment at the end as well Etihad is the same as the MCG but Spotless isn't the same as the SCG.

**** me these interstate teams are delusional, they wanna talk about 'fairness'. How about you give up the unfair drafting of academy players and then come talk about 'fairness'.

Talk about absolute dregs of football. Apart from 2 or 3 the players on the out of contract list basically aren't afl standard. Where on earth do they get the delusion they can be a premiership chance next year???

The only way would have been to get the guys with a year off to concentrate on core strength and other attributes, which you cant really do while playing footy.

trouble is if they did, people would be highly suspicious given their history

Ambrose goes alright, Hams and Gleeson are OK, but wouldn't push any of our players out of the team. Hurley might get a game for the Hawks, but other than that, they'd be depth.

I agree. We don't have the best team on the park at the moment, but even so, I would struggle to fit any of their players into our team.

I saw a graphic last night that looked at this year's contenders against 5 criteria that every premiership team of the last decade have demonstrated. Interestingly the only two teams (Sturgis point of the season) that meets all 5 of those criteria was The Handbaggers and the Swines, and it got me thinking who I would be least upset about winning if heaven forbid those two happen to face off in the big dance.

While I hate them both with a passion (but not as much as * obviously), I think I'd be least upset if the Swines won.

What are others thoughts?

If I were you, don't go to sleep if you're having this as a recurring nightmare.

Just stay awake.

Give me enough time and I'm sure I could find 5 arbitrary stats that conclude we're the only side that can win the flag.

I wonder if there was a graphic last year that showed you couldn't win it if you had to play your prelim away in WA?

Don't tell David King, but I've been quietly researching and have discovered a stat which absolutely guarantees Hawthorn won't lick the ultimate ice-cream this year.

Get this:

No team has won four in a row in the modern era! And... the team that stopped them has come from the top eight!

This stat is true for every single time there's been an attempt at a four-peat.

And what are we looking at now? The Hawks are currently sitting on three consecutive championships. And? There are seven other teams in the top eight. Boom!

It was a nice ride but the party is over. Someone call a taxi.

OMG! :-( LOL

Seriously though, I reckon our club would looove going in as underdog this year. (ie Not Possible). Just what Clarko needs for a new motivation factor.
