The other scenario this opens up is Freo dropping to 4th which eliminates the need to finish top.2. If Geelong finish 2nd and we finish 3rd it makes no difference to us. The key to this season will be beating Freo in WA. Do that and we get the double chance with the QF in Victoria.

Geelong and Hawthorn could well be playing off for a top 2 spot in round 22 and then dusting up for a finals series opening blockbuster on the first Friday of September (2nd v 3rd)

As much as I dislike the pricks you've got to respect them for the rivalry that we have...one that will probably define the age

Hawthorn v Geelong, the rivalry that continues to maintain the rage

Pre game on the ABC they were talking about how/why Freo has such a great percentage. Lock down rolling maul pressure to limit scoring opportunities. Evidently the bottom sides get scared and just crumble!! (And they play so many of them this year.)

Problem with playing in so many low scoring games is that when you really get rolled your percentage plummets.

Freo go better when they are letting the opposition go first to the ball and then sweat on them, sealing off the exits until they can get a turnover.

Do the same to them and they are toast
That's similar to what brad hardie just said - he also said that this will be viewed by other teams as to the key to beating freo - said it's not just the loss that's bad but their game plan being exposed by the team that's last

Top eight teams vs the bottom eight teams

(losses against bottom 8 sides)
Sydney: GWS
Fremantle: St Kilda
Geelong: Gold Coast
Port Adelaide: Richmond
North Melbourne: Brisbane, Adelaide, Carlton, Gold Coast
Essendon: St Kilda, Melbourne,
Collingwood: Gold Coast, Western Bulldogs

Good to see that we are currently the only top eight side who's yet to lose to any of those bottom eight teams. :D
