I don't think the bolded is true at all. I think we got the correct punishment, but it is inconsistent with what Lake and Harvey got. If they'd have gotten a week or two each, then i'd be fine with Selwood getting nothing. Since they get 3 and 4 weeks, Selwood's should get a week or two, but we all knew they wouldn't rub him out.

They weren't even remotely the same

Keeping in mind how little force is required to crush a trachea, Selwood's is similar in the sense that it was a dangerous action. Like i said though, Selwood's doesn't deserve the same punishment, but a couple of weeks less than the other two was deserved imo, and it is only because the other two got ridiculous punishments that consistency would say Selwood should get suspended.

Nothing for Bartel's dive. Yep, uhuh. Golden boy of the media thus allowing him to get off.
He was never going to get anything, not because he is the golden boy but because the staging penalty only applies if there has been no contact at all. So if you take a dive when you haven't been touched you will go but if you just exaggerate the effect of the contact then the MRP won't penalise you. The media was right in saying he would get off but not because he had 'credits in the bank' but because there was contact from Suckling. Unfortunately the media don't know the rule properly when it comes to staging.

Box Hill Hawks.
That Buddy hit...he does that at Hawthorn and it's weeks.

Disgraceful
Did I hear right, he is now a sneaky for the Brownlow? Isn't it amazing what can happen when you go from brown and gold to red and white. Our club will have to be very careful. When players see all the advantages in going north, they might all want to go. More money, longer contracts, leniency, on and off the field, special treatment by the MRP, more TV exposure. Who could blame players if they inquired about Sydney?

Basically a top of the arm flush hit to the head. High impact. The Footscray player was flung at least a metre or two with force to the ground...what saved Franklin is the kid Macrae got up ok...imagine if he had neck damage from that hit.

What is going on at the AFL (cheating dogs) and the MRP's team selective rub outs....its blatant cheating allowing the $ydney players to keep hitting players in the head and getting off...

So, just us, cats and north to have any official retirements announced for the year. Barring serious injury, would we actually have any players seriously contemplating it? Hale and Lake would be the only long shots I'd say.
I don't know if he is contracted for next year, buy Sewell has struggled a bit with injuries this year. He could certainly still contribute next year, but there is a small chance that he might call it.

Ah yes... I knew I'd miss someone! He's probably the one most likely you'd reckon.

And for the record... I'm not talking about any of our fringe, VFL, rookie stock - just the older brigade.

Someone suggested on another thread maybe Burgoyne. You never know if some players are struggling with some issues, like Bailey was last year with his knee, so there may be a surprise one. I seem to recall someone suggested a while ago that if we go back to back, Hodgey might call it a day (I for one sincerely hope not  )

I hear what your saying but you certainly couldn't go out in finer style -
Back to back premiership captain, norm smith medalist and 3 time premiership player
