All VFL clubs invested in VFL Park earned a huge return.

As I recall, the closest rail line was Glen Waverley, and a light rail supposedly would run there, however the Cain government, under auspices of a bankrupt state, pulled the MCG card as the home of sport asset.
Yep, get off the train at Glen Waverley & hop onto a crowded Grenda's bus for the journey to the ground. The bus invariably got caught in the football traffic along Wellington Rd & pulled in near the Member's stand, meaning a walk around the ground to get into the outer area on the opposite side of the ground.

Once you got beyond the Channel 0/10 studios on Springvale Rd, heading towards Glen Waverley, there was virtually nothing there, plenty of paddocks.

In the early '80s, when my dad fostered police puppies, we used to go out to paddocks on Police Rd for the official puppy obedience classes & there was nothing around there. Nowadays it is fully built out.

300k retainer plus private mirror-walled change-room stocked each week with 1 case of Evian, 2 cans of Mr Sheen, 1 copy Sporting Excuses For Dummies (hardcover) and 1 silver hook for dad's unwashed jockstrap. Pretty sure...........

Correct me if I'm wrong but my friends and I, all coming from Aspendale and Chelsea used to get a train to Ormond and then a bus. I'm pretty sure. I suppose it depends where you live:huh:

From memory the buses ran from a few different stations to VFL Park. Coming from Pascoe Vale the most direct route was train into the city & then train to Glen Waverley.

I remember you used to actually see the players after the game going to their cars etc so you could get a signature. I remeber getting Braddles to sign my guernsey with 21 on the back and him saying "ah good on ya mate".

You just don't get that opportunity anymore sadly.

Always travelled by car. Like a meerkat I would stand tall and observe the traffic flow before making a dash. Taking a short cut through the member’s car park was ‘value for money’.

We already throw it in, how would it change???
Last touch, rather than last possesion out.

So if someone kicks down the boundry line, the defender cant come over the top and spoil it out of bounds. Rather, they'd need to go in from the boundry. Would lead to higher scoring.

I don’t like the fact the defender gets shafted again, it is so hard to defend these days without infringing.

Last possession would stop any quick kicks towards the line when no one is there, which could lead to higher scoring.

Surprised neither has been trialled more. Do you know how it’s gone in the SANFL?

The deliberate rule and rushed behind rule are on par with holding the ball rule as my most frustrating.
