I'm sad Dre has retired, yeah he is bit of a waste of talent, but obviously footy is such a professional, gruelling and full time occupation these days, think we'll see more of these players fall by the wayside unfortunately.

He would have thrived and been a big star in the 80s or even the 1990s.

Players now have to make more sacrifices and work and train harder than ever (and yes they are paid better than any time in the history of the game)

Likely just to be remembered as Spida Everitt's brother?

Oh terrific, the Man with No Brain, James Brayshaw, is calling games for Fox Footy next year. All of a sudden, Dwayne Russell doesn't seem so bad...

These are excerpts from The Australian article:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/spo...n/news-story/f13971f9ae1a695f73c1677c52a67857

Watson yesterday made it clear that while he accepted the need to hand back his Brownlow, he didn’t accept the CAS judgment.
Still not accepting responsibility. I found this telling:
The chink in Watson’s story is a text message sent by Dank to the Essendon captain on July 4, 2012 to tell him he had forgotten to have his shot.

Watson’s response, also by text, reads: “We’ll do it tomorrow.’’ When questioned about this by Rychener, Watson was emphatic. “I didn’t get that shot.’’ Watson’s testimony is that, by that stage of the season, he had lost faith in Dank’s program, was no longer receiving injections and was fobbing off the sports scientist.
So despite all this, he didn't do anything to stop the program or at least warn the other players of his concerns? Some captain.

Watson did not cheat and no one, not even CAS, truly knows whether he took a banned substance.
HAHAHAHA... right.

Having read the article I was left with the feeling Chip was being selective with the exerts he used from the CAS report. Like not pointing out CAS thought everything Jobe said was crap.

It wouldn't surprise me AFL gave the heads-up to Jobe about pending decision.

At least 34 players with unfair advantage. Set the record straight and remove their wins from the record books for 2012. Much greater significance than Brownlow

This article was typical of the trash Chip has written throughout the last 4 years in relation to the cheats. He was outed as a sympathiser early on & did nothing to change this impression as the scandal has unfolded.

Naive and gullible?

He deliberately kept it quiet from ASADA officials, and kept Dr Reid out of the loop. Considering these footballers get anti-doping education and the fact he's in a position of great responsibility, he'd know better than most.

He knew exactly what he was doing.
Hang on Thrawn ,
You have been following this case closely enough for long enough to know that there is no way Dr Reid gets a pass here .
Some will argue that Dank , Hird , Corcoran etc are the most at fault here but as the chief medico at the club at the time , Dr Reid stands alone as the biggest disgrace and betrayer of his profession of all time at an AFL club .

So Jobe took an (what showed up to be), illicit and performance enchanting drug that fuelled him to the point he won himself a Brownlow medal and his 'integrity' allowed him to hold onto it, right until the AFL likely gave him an ultimatum he just couldn't ignore. :)

Essendon really did have more than one 'Simon the Likeable'
Performance enchanting? I like the sound of that. Makes it sound all magical and mystical.
Would that make Dank a wizard?

Right, he should have injected himself into it (pardon the pun) but upon reflection from the CAS decision and what they had to say about his role, it seems he was far less culpable than first thought. This was new information we did not have at the time.

Even if we are to believe Dr Reid wasn't across everything that was going on at * the fact that he wasn't was reason enough for him to have stood down from his position at the club immediately .
Disgrace !!

More of the same from Chip. He bought the nonsensical rogue scientist/duped players/no records narrative from day one and now reports it as cold hard fact, along with a similarly bold statement of fact that Jobe did not cheat.

That this horse has been dead as a dinosaur since CAS more or less got to the bottom of things has not stopped him flogging it with the fervour of a Melbourne Cup jockey in the home straight.

He has been a dill from the start, made all the worse by his belief in himself as a serious journalist.

If Job didn't cheat then Dank didn't cheat and he has been hard done by in the * saga. Where is all the sympathy for Dank from the Murdoch media?

Will be interesting as to how Collingwood handle this now.

If indeed the board was split on the appointment in the first place, this could put just a little wedge between some.
