Difficult to say. Finals are completely different. Interesting to see how they acquit themselves this year when the real heat is on.

Yup true. I just reckon their talent is that far ahead of the rest they could go at 70% & still accidentally win a couple of flags.

It looks likely they play finals this year & likely next. I reckon they'll be primed for flags by 2018 once they've gained a couple of years of finals experience.

I haven't heard Sam Reids diabetes mentioned once since his comeback game, doesn't play for the Saints I guess
Dale Weightman was never any good because of his diabetes.

Oh wait......

Weightman's last game was I think in the year 15 BP.

Of course, in the BP (Before Purple) period, diabetes had not been "discovered" by the medical profession. Or at least not by the sports reporting gutter crawlers.

Hence any reference to Weightman in this discussion is not relevant IMO [emoji851]

Does anybody know if you can bet against a side making the top 8? Don't seem to be able to find this anywhere. Every time I play around with the ladder predictor it strikes me that North are no certainty to even play finals. Seems outrageous for a team that is 10-2, but their run home is absolutely shocking and they are also not a great side IMO. Let's say they win 13 games (which is around where I have them), there is every chance Port sneaks into the finals. They have a very soft run home. The other 7 currently in the top 8 look pretty safe.

Port are paying around $3.25 to make the finals, but I should be able to get better odds if I could somehow bet against North making the finals. They are paying $1.06 to make finals which is way too low, I would expect I should be able to get 10-1 taking the opposite side of that bet, which I would gladly outlay a bit of coin on. They will go into at least 6 games as underdogs on the run home. I think they are a real chance to go no better than 3-7 for the rest of the year. If this happens it likely will come down to %. North have a reasonable % now but expect it to drop off significantly on the run home. If Port manage to knock them off when they play them, they would be in even more strife.

Run home is:
Hawks * 2
Adelaide (away)
WC (away)
Port
Pies
Saints

Doggies
GWS

Should win the bolded games, but ourselves, Pies and Port are all over the shop. Cop any of us on a good day and you could drop 1 of those games. Of the other 7 games they are capable of losing all of them, but realistically they will get at least 1. Bottom line, they would not want to lose to Port in a few weeks.

I like your style. I used the predictor and had us in the 8

It's been said a hundred times, but Lindsay Thomas is the most hatable player in the league. Sulking, staging, ducking campaigner of a bloke.

He annoys the crap out of me! Misses two easy shots on goal then finally kicks one and puts his arns out like his just kicked goal of the year.

Has to be the most selfish footballer in the AFL. Takes a ping from everywhere, flies for speccies he will never take, looks like he has smashed 2 large pizzas before the first bounce.

Seriously, how much respect can you have for your teammates and your own career when you cant even be bothered not been fat?

Ziebell is a genuine flog. Not even hard at hit. Just dirty. Can't say I've ever seen him lay a hard bump that was fair. Always late or high, when players aren't expecting contact.

Can't see hawthorn winning the flag this year they're cooked
Very unlikely, but the Hawks lift about 5 gears when Hodge walks out on the ground with them. Can't completely rule them out IMHO..... And they do love September

Poor mans Tim Membrey ;)

He's a bit taller than Skunk, 192cm. Still somewhat undersized as a KPP but he moves across the ground well.

Was drafted just 5 spots ahead of him as well.

They'll be equal top if they win tonight. Not bad for cooked! They know how to peak at the right time.

I still rate them a solid chance. Playing crap by their standards but they still keep winning. They only need to hit form for a month, reckon they will go into finals feeling zero pressure.

Blokes like Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne, Cyril, Bruest, Gunstan, Gibson, know how to get it done when it matters. Strangely this is the first year I wouldnt mind seeing them do it, would be extraordinary if they did it again.

If they played any of Norf, GWS, Dogs or Sydney in the Gf..... I reckon I'd be barracking for the Hawks.

Can't stand any of the other teams, although I'd love Buddy to kick a bag on GF day against his old team & get the flag
