Just watching the Cats - what does everyone think about Rhys Stanley with a premiership medal and Roo without one?
Peter Caven has two premiership medals.
Bobby Skilton has none.
It means nothing.

Don't think they would have beaten either Adelaide or WC over there.

I do they think hey have a great list, just further away then they believe.
And because of Boyd their cap is as tight as a fishes arseh*le

If the popular opinion presides that the Saints won't win a premiership because we are the Saints; then the Dogs will not win a flag regardless of their talent because they're effectively worse and flattered by our foundation history.

As the Dogs have not made a GF since 1961, whereas we have made 5 in that time, not great by any standard, but 1 flag, and in effect 3 less than 10 points the deficit (I know the Cats loss was 12 points but the kick after the siren is irrelevant as there is no do over; 1 point or 500, we lost and 6 points was the margin at the siren) means that 1 could have been 4, and the 5th, we lead the Crows at half time and history would say they rose to the occasion.

The Dogs have the skills to make it.
The club has the desire to make it.
But until they do, they won't, they can't, because they don't believe they can.

They're not say Richmond ('82 last appearance) where pitchforks and fire is choice, and they're not us where its perpetual belief that we can, we can blitz the comp, we can set the trend, we can make the GF we can get bloody close to winning one and when we make it we lead at stages of the match so we believe our best is at least equal to, and it is up to moments of brilliance or heartbreak to deliver a flag.

The Dogs, border on hope into hopelessness, and for their sake I hope they do because I love an underdog, I'm a sucker for a good news story, but I have no great hope that they will.

I won't gain any pleasure from a bulldogs premiership at all. I'm not sure why they garner so much public goodwill and adulation compared to their fellow underdogs. Not that I want that necessarily for the saints, but it's a little bit nauseating

As a club they seem pretty good. But the chips on their shoulders that their supporters still carry about something that happened 7 years ago in a season where they were clearly off the pace of the top 2 is embarrassing

What a surprise that Brad Scott's ego has put his club in a worse position than if he wasn't there. As if his obsession with reacting to free kicks wasn't enough of a distraction to what he should be doing (i.e. Coaching), and his red mist between quarters repeatedly making him engage with abuse and attempted intimidation towards opposition players, he now carefully considers his words and repeatedly accuses the umpires of conspiracy.

I guess he is a bit like Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, an awful bloke but to be embraced and appreciated for the entertainment his sheer lunacy brings.

jamar reported for abuse lmao, ****ing bald campaigner

This is a really good point (which you've made in other threads) which I think is a little lost on Doggies supporters.

Doggies are ahead of us atm, by quite a margin. Supporters are can point to development like Bont >>>>>> Billings, Stringer >> Paddy (kinda dumb since two year difference, but anyway for rough comparison purposes), a very solid midfield etc. However - as you say, their cap must be under serious pressure, if not completely maxxed out thanks to Boyd.

Although guys like Stringer and Bont are young and have development left, this may be about as good as it gets for the Doggies in the sense they can't trade in to address needs thanks to Boyd's monster salary.

Us on the other hand have got stacks of cash in hand (from what I understand). If we can get Dunstan to have a break out next year like Ross has this year (I think he has it in him), Billings to start playing at the level we know he can, and then trade in an elite midfielder (or two) we have imo a higher ceiling than them.

Another poor AFL decision , allowing Essendon to more than likely get the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft this year. If they didn't cheat the system .....they would , with all their players available , probably finish around 9th or 10th. Yet they will get pick 1 or 2. Sides like St.Kilda that play the Bombers twice , are also affected by finishing higher and getting a worse draft pick , given those games are automatic wins. Everything the AFL seems to touch , they stuff up. Rewarding Essendon.....Seriously !!

should be stripped of their next 5 first rounders, disgraceful club

Bloody hell Josh Kelly is silk. Calling it early, he'll be the best player in the comp by the time he turns 25. He makes Bont look average.

Is he indigenous?

I dont understand this position. They have had penalties by the AFL on dps and being kicked out of the finals.
Then they got this whole year destroyed by WADA.
They cannot be punished for ever. Also I much prefer beating them twice in a year and really this years top 15 are even so no great advantage.
At the moment I would take Gresham over Parish and Parash went at 6.
They can have their one pick, they will be shit for years.
