I challenge you watch the replay and watch his efforts. Just embarrassing and pathetic. Crows had 7 more I50s so their mids werent beaten too badly.

8 of his H & A games this year were 4s or below on AFL player ratings. Bar one game (v GWS), all of his good games were against the bottom sides. This supports my hypothesis. A very over-rated player. Genuine downhill skiier. Played his best games this year v GC, (GWS), Brisbane, Melbourne & Richmond.

http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/113855/Taylor-WALKER

Dont believe the hype on this guy. Puffs his chest out. Looks like Tarzan. Kicks a long bomb. But plays like a slow Jane with no agility. Only good when his midfield his running riot and kicking it to him lace out.

I don't think I could sit through it again, I will have to take you word for it. I have seen him play good footy so he has it in him, on the night when the Crows wobbled it forward it seemed rushed and messy and you could probably say the forwards didn't give them any options but I thought Sydney's attack on the ball set the pace of the game and Adelaide couldn't go with them especially when the game was still with in reach.

Until we have a side with 'Tasmania' in the name then it isn't our side, but agree that the current set up of Hawks playing 4 games per year in the North and NM playing 3 games per year in the South works well. Hoping that we get another game against the Hawks in Launceston next year because attending this year's was fantastic, I think the club has said that they will be requesting 2 games in Tassie next year due to the clubs links with the state.

The reason the AFL won't do it is because you Tasmanian's watch footy already. Your reward for being loyal to the sport is to be taken for granted.
But also: If a team was based in Hobart would those in Launceston get on board? or visa versa?

As for GWS, the Stadium sales are not a measure of success. We ALL watch GWS and the Suns on TV.

This Gary Ayres finals medal is a good idea, but has a downfall. The teams going through the elim-semi have an extra game for points.
Not really fair when players get less games even when winning.
Hope JPK gets it

Back of beyond?
You might want to do a bit of online stalking and find out exactly where some of those players live.

Someone at work today was saying how terrible will it be if Sydney play GWS in a grand final.
I replied it will be what they ( the AFL ) made.
A full MCG with hardly anyone's heart in it.

Its a pity we may never know who is better out of the Cats and the Dogs.
Full? More like 78k!

Interesting that the four best teams for contested possession differential are the teams that are still alive in the finals.

No wonder Hawks went out in straight sets.

Look, I love that we give it a red hot go and all. But let's face it, when things like this happen, seriously, why do we even bother? Callum Mills won the Rising Star, and now Isaac Heeney has won the coaches best young player award. Their success is hardly a surprise - they were both obvious top-5 (maybe even top-2) picks in their draft years. Sydney got both these players, despite in both those years finishing very high on the ladder (including a Grand Final!). This makes an absolute mockery of all claims that the draft remains a mechanism of equalisation.

The fact is, if the likely happens, and we have the Swans playing the Giants this year, that will be totally unsurprising, given the ridiculous concessions and advantages given to these two teams. It has made the whole competition become a farce.

Why bother? Seriously?

I honestly think a really simple way to stop this from happening is simply make the top 10 off limits for academy picks. If you want a player in there, trade for an early pick otherwise tough t***ies.

Luckily the WB haven't given up and hopefully our club hasn't either.

I know this isn't saints related but can someone please explain what is going on with Richmond and focus on footy. I just don't understand what is going on with all that?
Cheers

Well, nobody is giving up ( yet ) but it is like fighting with one hand tied behind your back.
Clubs aren't going to give up, but I can see supporters dropping off...

People have said that for various reasons since I started following the game. It just doesn't happen though. I know people don't like the way the AFL do things but they are very smart. Look how the trading period has taken over all the media. Driven by the AFL. They will change the rules if a side gets to strong. They have always don't that. Even of GWS are nearly unbeatable they aren't going to win 5 flags in a row. We just need to be ready to beat tem the years or year they aren't going to win.

Come on, Plug, you often defend the AFL and you're quite within your rights to do so and you do it well, but even you must admit that the leg up these new teams, and specifically GWS have got have been pretty much over the top and has negatively affected the bottom sides.

On drafting alone, the bottom sides were severely compromised during the first few years of drafts GWS got, (which really helped the Hawks etc to stay up) and that's not talking about academies , allowances etc.

I agree they won't win five in a row, but three over the next 6 years wil be quite achievable with this team. Wasn't it you who said that when teams win the players stick together?

Sorry, it it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. It's a kick in the teeth to all long suffering supporters and for the AFL it's all about the bottom line.

If they win 3 in 6 years they are worse than the Hawks and equal with Geelong. The thing I don't understand as a Saints supporter is why our supporters care so much. it isn't as if we normally win flags so we are badly effected. If they win 3 in 6 we have another 3 years to win one. I only want one so they can win 5 in 6 for all I care. Unless the saints win I don't barrack for the side that wins.

And GWS were given a huge leg up but so was GC. They are obviously run better than GC so there is more to a club than just getting good players. If we had a smart list manger in our good times we would still be up the top of the ladder and probably would have won a flag or two. We now have great admin so I'm confident whatever GWS do we will still have our chance to win that second flag.

We care because we have battled for years and they are potentially being given theirs on a silver platter. Hawks put in the hard yards and deserved theirs, I don't believe many people will believe that GWS actually deserve the success they get, at least initially.
And we were/are affected because when we were at the bottom of the ladder we missed out on some very good picks which should have come our way.
Anyway what's done is done and we all have to live with it, but we don't have to be happy about it.

Meanwhile some of has have lived through our teens, twenties, thirties, forties, fifties are here, Nek minnit sixties without a ****ing flag. COME ON AFL WHAT ABOUT THOSE LONG TERM ****ING SUPPORTERS. **** GIVING SOME campaigner IN WESTERN SYDNEY 5 flags because he's decided to go to a free game once in a while to watch some bullshit made up team in a ****en shithole that doesn't even follow the sport.

Without these sides and some success clubs like ours would be gone. When the AFL got bugger TV rights money clubs either merged or folded. We couldn't win a flag under the VFL system or the AFL system except for one year out of 120 years. If I don't follow the clubs that wins it I don't care who wins it so I would rather the AFL get huge TV rights even if it means a club I dislike like GWS do win it. As ive said before the WB have come from crap to preliminary finalists in 2 years. It can still happen even with GWS in the comp. Just get a great coach and great admin and you can beat any side. Anyway go doggies on Saturday.

Absolutely cannot believe North gave Daw 3 years! This is a bloke who has been in the system 7 years, played 25 games and never cracked double figures in a year, barely touches when je does play, can't ruck, can't play forward. Built like a tank but plays like he doesn't know what a footy is.

I watched him live for the first time this year when they played the Tiges and he was taken to the cleaners by Hampson of all people. Couldn't touch it round the ground despite the one way traffic.

Top it all off, he's 26 next year how much improvement can you expect? Yet check the North board and their jumping for joy like they've just signed Fyfe. I severely doubt another club would give him multiyear on any signoficant wage. Absolutely baffling all round.

GWS was an AFL brainchild, GCS was a group lobby (GCS17), make of that what you will, but there is also something to be said about AFL in QLD where 7 years later, club personnel are still working out of portable offices.

Also, look up GWS' concessions, not just on paper but what was smoothed over (ie Scully's dad's new job offer) as an AFL brainchild club and it makes for some stench in reading, whereas GCS reads a bit like people who did not know what they were getting into fully and went the full foundation hog with young kids first and existing talent second. Let's not forget their initial targets were our own Rooey, Franklin, Tippet and KPF primarily who they got nothing. Nobody. Nada.

Whereas GWS got Scully, got Palmer, got Davis, got 11 of the first 14 picks in an ND because of the mini draft.

GWS didn't get a leg up, GCS got a leg up, GWS got daddy to buy them a house and deck it out for them on taxpayers coin. That being said though, they've still done brilliantly to be where they are as they also could have screwed it all up but didn't.

Similar to us with Footy First in that a collection of people attached to the club feel that the club needs to head in a different direction. Unlike us where it went rather smoothly as far as process' go when there's a board challenge and swap, Focus on Football appears to want more of an amalgamation than a takeover and dramatic shift in dynamics. They feel that Richmond are heading in a way they are semi OK with but want to change, they are semi OK with some people there but want others changed as well and they're in no real rush to push the matter where the fan may need replacing so they dialogue and yo-yo until hands are forced where it's put up or shut up time.

And thus far they've shut up in those instances where it's now pretty much dead in the water.

Don't think it's completely baffling as he would have had some interest although 2 years was much more realistic.

You look at that though, 7 years in this system for 25 games = he won't make it at the level
