I don't think finals generally lends itself to your more outside skills focussed type players. It's not just Motlop.

Sydneys pressure and attack on the ball has been ferocious and that is the difference. Don't reckon the Swans have had that type of player since Jetta left.

Of course they will occasionally bail you out miraculously (i.e. Nick Davis) but generally to win finals you need your inside mids and pressure players firing.

Geelong had 32 (!!) more inside 50's than Sydney and lost by 6 goals, that is incredible.

A heap of them were rubbish that went straight to Sydney defenders

Cats throwing the kitchen sink at the Crows to get Dangerfield to help them win a premiership is going to be as successful as Carlton doing it with Judd.
Just reiterates the point that you need more than a champion player to win it.

Slapping a few hundred on the Dogs tomorrow so I can be at peace with the result either way. If i have to listen to #sobrave for another week I might as well get paid for it

Sydney did well to get Mc Glynn and kennedy off the hawks. Mc Glynn was incredible early on and Kennedy just keeps on playing at an incredible level.

Zac Jones had 15 rebound 50's. Surely he keeps his spot in the GF? There are others that can come out if McVeigh is fit.

Cats had 72 inside 50's to 40. That is disgusting football and ahows that you can score big with quality entries.

Some of our delivery inside 50 has been piss poor so hopefully Richo and the team are looking at this and putting plenty into our halfbacks and midfielders about hitting up options and waiting for leads.

Dangerfield the worst offender. Sure he won plenty of clearances however time & time again he just bombed it forward to Swans packs. Not once did I see him lower his eyes when kicking the ball inside 50.

I took great pleasure watching the cats get smashed.

Especially for Ducky McDuckwood.

Looks like they mortgaged their future somewhat.

Probably but I think if we won one flag I couldn't give a rats if we were bottom for the next 10 years. They probably looked at the list and saw that they wouldn't be good enough for years so took a punt. After winning 3 flags in 10 years as a supporter I wouldn't give a rats. Was hoping for the cats like I'm hoping for the WB but was always expecting an all Sydney GF. The ratings for a game like that will break all records.

Zak Jones was brilliant last night.
His confidence was up and he was so effective with the ball in the back half, can see Andy McGrath playing a similar role next year

Had the exact same thought.

Maybe the more knowledgable of the Saint's board can help me...

I haven't bet on sport for a few years but my provider is offering
H2H Dogs $3.26
Dogs +1.5 $3.40

This doesn't seem right to me. To me this means you can get a better price and still win the bet even if the Dogs lose by a point? (+2.5 is still paying $3.30)

If so I'll definitely be getting on +1.5 (I used to do it out of habit to cover the draw).

Edit: For the diehards out there who get pretty down when the Saints lose I used to do this (only works when we're massive favourites)

Bet x amount on the opposition +1.5 (to cover the draw)
Bet x amount on whatever line gives over $2.00 (maybe 35ish)

This means that either:
Saints win by 6 goals plus: Lose money but happy
Saints win by small margin: Break even (or slight profit) but still happy
Saints lose: Sad but partially compensated for the emotional trauma

Worked well.

(Obviously Saints winning by 1 is the ideal result).

I agree that makes no sense. Was it the same bookmaker? There has to be a catch somewhere. Bookies are smarter than punters.

Yep same one:

Anyway. I got on. 3.40 is pretty juicy anyway considering they're playing a team of youngsters who have played one game in a month.

You dont have time to lower your eyes against the swans. Thats how good they are.

Cats showed last nigh how important depth is. They have Dangerfield and Selwood carrying them every week.
Like seriously, how do blokes like Bews and Cowan get a game?
Wouldn't even be in our best 25.
Guthrie, caddy and Duncan are all B grade at Best!. And won't get any better

That is why I'm so happy with were our club is at. We are getting some great depth in our team now. Once the young group take the next step we will have a very solid 27 players or so.
Exciting times
