Interesting to note, of the four Golden Boys of the 90s/00s - Hird, Voss, Bucks, Harvey - the Saints are only club to have not made theirs coach. And, all the others have been abject failures.

Have we dodged a bullet?
Only 1 of 4 humble enough to not demand control of their former club.

Harveys had a good apprenticeship and will be ripe to take over if things dont work out for richo.

I heard he was pretty sour when we appointed Watters.
Also noticed he doesn't tend to be in the discussions when others appoint new coaches.

His problem is being assistant to a complete dud like Buckley. Assistants are usually and unfortunately rated by who they work for. Malthouse inflcited a lot of damage on the AFL when so many of his assistants were promoted, think Watters, Neeld, Buckley

Anyone but Bob Murphy.

What a weekend of football.

Freeman, Saints win with three down, huge scores, Bulldogs real deal, Hawks still great, Bob Murphy.

Restored my faith in football, except the Murp injury of course

Big time.

Have a look at the midfields Harvs has coached -

Carlton 09-10 - It was all Murphy/Judd/Gibbs with little to no development behind it. Zero impact.
St.Kilda 11 - We went backwards at a rate of knots. No kids came through under he and Lyon.
Collingwood 12-current - Have pick up 'hard nuts' in Greenwood, Adams and Treloar yet are being smashed in the midfield. Off the top of my head I can't think of a mid they have drafted and developed under Harvey.

I'm sure he is a great bloke and he is a legend of the game but he doesn't have anything as a coach that would make you sit up and say "He should be running our club".

Silly of him to want it at that time, thats his passion for the club showing.
Whoever got the job then was a sacrificial lamb.

He also still mumbles and doesn't know how to speak with the media

Agreed on Harvey being a great bloke and player but not sure on the coaching ability. I think he needs a few years at a strongly coached club like Hawthorn to be able to really step up.

Think Watters made himself a sacrificial lamb. Very poor decision to appoint him. Good decision to sack him.

I have some high hopes for Mav Weller now, he has lifted this year and towards the end of last year. Feel like he could become our Jack Ziebell/Dustin Martin style of player; goes forward and takes some marks and kicks some goals and brings immense pressure, but also breaks lines goes hard in the midfield.

I realise he's not at their level yet but he's shown games where he has kicked 3 goals and run in the midfield and forward line all in the same game.

Notice he steered well clear of the saints on triple m this arvo. All about how shit Collingwood are.

Same on this joke of a show.

Not a word about the Saints but how bad Collingwood were.

Purple waxing on about the future of the Saints last week, silent this week. Stupid putrid piece of shit he is

Probably should have posted it earlier but I was watching the Hawks v Dogs game and was devastated for Robert Murphy, you could see he knew immediately that he'd done the knee. I have met him a couple of times and he's a gun of a man. He's like Lenny Hayes in the way he's just a very good bloke. No one deserves a crack at finals more than him, he's worked hard to keep the Dogs together for a long time. Better judges than me all say he's a really genuine and classy guy in all aspects of life. Hope he gets back and gets rewarded with another crack at finals....just not a premiership before us;)

This may come across really badly but I cannot stand Robert Murphy. I turn off 360 when he's on, he irritates me that much. I get that public do like him, but I feel the media has really gone over the top. He had his chance in finals in 2009 & 2010 & they failed, so it's not like he's in the Chris Newman & Matty Richardson category with the fairy tale story.

Anyway, that my 2 cents. I may sound like a heartless prick but I really don't care. No one batted an eyelid when Jackson Ramsay did his knee at training on Thursday morning.....
