SO much skill such a tiny heart. God he frustrates me. Not as much as the Dee supporters I suspect
Can't help but wonder what he might have been like had he gone to a Collingwood or Hawthorn.

Just put in a pretty good second quarter, well for him anyway.

Showing why I am o frustrated with him. Skill and reads the play but is so LAZY.

Could have been anything

The poster boy for how not to expose a No.1 draft pick to senior footy.
I feel for him, it messed up his head and it is clearly the club's fault.
He's got skills.

Adelaide are most likely to miss finals out of last year's finalists for mine. Sydney I reckon are also a smoky to miss out.

I reckon Sydney, Adelaide, North and Dogs all in danger of falling away. Cats and Port are expected to make top 4 but Collingwood look a safer bet to me.

i just hope that Freo falls away and Lyon has to do a rebuild

I know people will say 'its only nab cup' but right here right now Collingwood, Demons and Dogs look better than us and Pies and Demons are as young as us.

The Demons and Pies only have one player each on their lists over 30 (Swan + Vince).

We're lacking a couple of a grade mids that's and maybe a few medium defenders

Dees and Dogs should be ahead of us. Dogs began their rebuild a year or 2 before us. Dees have been rebuilding since.. the beginning of time?

Watching the Pies leapfrog us, without ever REALLY bottoming out, all following on from what took place in 2010. Geelong too for that matter..

That is a little hard to swallow.

Collingwood began their rebuild a year after us and had a far superior list profile being the youngest GF winning team and thus were able to trade out more players for more and better draft picks and last year they won the battle for the two hottest 'go home' mids otherwise 2016 may have been looking like it could be a repeat of 2015 which was a repeat of 2014.
Geelong picked up one of the best midfielders in the AFL if they hadn't they don't make the 8 this year also been in rebuild since the end of 2012
Put Dangerfield or Treloar in the Saints and reverse Carlisle's suspension and everyone would be predicting Saints go top 8.
Dangerfield is just dumb luck and we all know Collingwood have ways of getting their man.
There is no need for teams to bottom out to rebuild and without priority picks there is no longer an incentive too. The Saints made our bed with bad recruiting especially compared to Geelong for years and years even before Ross took charge but also some bad luck here and there.
The 2011-2015 timeline was also partly just bad luck couple lucky breaks and we play finals in 2012 and finish 2014 above the Dees and GWS. The important thing is we have learned from our past and have grown as a club and I would hope barring disaster that should keep us from winning another spoon for 30 years.
Its frustrating to be the most successful team of the 90's/2000's not to win a GF but if you told your 80's self we would still be called the St Kilda Saints and played 4 GF's he'd probably take it. Going forward the club seems keenly aware we need to use those experiences as motivation to find that extra 1% in cap management, coaching, medical etc so we win it next time and keep winning them.

Just remember that Collingwood has sold the farm to bring in Treloar and Aish who are one known gun and one potential gun. They still are weak at both ends of the field and are relying on an inconsistent Cloke and an aging Swan to reliably kick goals.

Their strong midfield is going to allow them to be very strong vs weaker and similarly placed sides but stronger ones will open them up where they are weak and they wont be winning games in the finals where it counts. At least not yet that is.

From some of the pre season form I have seen from us and other clubs, I would say our midfield would be the slowest going around. I fear another season of Richo's pressers "yeah no, we were killed by the outside runners of the opposition.."

They get a bit from their mosquito fleet and it look like they will play Fasolo forward again too.

Clayton Oliver is going to be a gun. I was already a big fan before watching yesterdays game but he has something special about him that kid. I didn't know if he would adjust but I reckon he will be a superstar. He does little things that just make you think of the real superstar players. Dangerfield style gun I reckon.

Hasn't got anything like Dangerfield's speed, but he'll be a player.

I think the issue was the Pies won their flag in 2010 and then basically started a complete rebuild in 2012.

We were kind of in denial from 2011 through 2013 and didnt really face the facts that we needed a complete rebuild until 2014.

True. He has an innate ability to just get out of tackles or hold up play to find an unrushed option. It's an unteachable talent to do good things only players like Judd and guys of his ilk have. I was a huge fan already but he just has something that makes you want to watch footy. He's super old school, I reckon he could be something really special. Wish we had got him. I'm still a little concerned with our midfield talent at the moment, I wish we had managed to dislodge Shiel.
