Dempster this year maybe next year - Carlisle will take over next year
Fisher most Likely last year -Goddard will be a very good defender for 10 years
Joey still has 2 to 3 years to go
Geary will be pushed aside by the likes of Rice - White

And the issue wasnt so much games played - it was knowing how to nurture young players and make them feel part of the club. Lyon failed to develop the list and we won a spoon in 2014. This is not a coincidence and Freo's demise in the next few years will prove this.

Defend Lyon all day and all night. Noone cares. History will have him down for 0 flags. The same amount as me. 0. But he has had plenty more opportunities. 10 seasons of opportunity so far. The list he inherited at the Saints was an excellent one so 'almost' winning a flag really isnt all that much of an achievement. A truly good coach might have got us two flags with that group. So screw Lyon. 0 flags and one failed idea.

Well I couldn't care that no one cares. I remember the fun and thrills of those years. I don't work in hindsight. As for the group he had well it was about 5 short of what Thomas had. I also know we had less aa than the sides that beat us and constantly hear he played hacks like eddy and mini. It's strange with all these faults and less aa we got so close.

Personally i was very concerned about our lack of scoring in 2010 and that Lyon didn't seem to react to on-field issues, but we managed to scrape over the line enough that it didn't matter. Probably due to players like Rooey and Milne who were exceptional at finding ways to score.

Drafted in 2008 the wise posters here had written Lynch off because he hadn't set the world on fire 2 years later.
( he kicked 4 goals in 5 games 2010, he kicked 7 in 6 games for the Crows 2011. )
Finally he started to do some good stuff in his 5th season.

Compared to that we currently have :
Newnes in his 5th season.
Bruce in his 5th AFL season
Roberton in his 6th.
Ross in his 5th.
Weller in his 6th.
Dunstan in his 3rd.
Webster in his 5th ( but didn't play AFL in his first ).
Billings in his 3rd
Lonie in his 2nd
Hickey in his 6th
Greshem in his 1st
McCartin in his 2nd
Sinclair 2nd

Lets all cry about the spuds in our team and sook because we lost that gun Lynch. ( who was formerly a spud when we had him ). Maybe we can say the same about Cripps.
