Rocket Eade shoving it up some doubters right now.

I didn't buy them being as shit as people said. I don't think they can lose any more guns but both Queensland teams had horror injury runs last year.

Watching the GC-Freo game, Alex Sexton playing well, so is Aaron Hall. We have a lot of bigger blokes coming along but **** me we need some good medium defenders and mids to come good.

Is Minchington comparable to Hall? Not as quick probably

Gosh Hall looks good, would take him ahead of Swallow, Prestia, O'Meara, etc

What a beautiful kick he has

Well I couldn't care that no one cares. I remember the fun and thrills of those years. I don't work in hindsight. As for the group he had well it was about 5 short of what Thomas had. I also know we had less aa than the sides that beat us and constantly hear he played hacks like eddy and mini. It's strange with all these faults and less aa we got so close.
Prob my favourite time going to the footy was the 2nd half of the 2003 season. It was pure enjoyment to see us rise again and play exciting footy. Won nothing that yr. But the memories are still fond.
Ive said this before , dont think too many agree with me though.
But footy isnt about the Premiership Cup. Dont get me wrong , its a bloody massive bonus if you win one. But its not the be all to end all.
If it was the Saints, Dogs, Dees and Swans before they ended their 72 yr drought wouldve had a combined total of about 12 members.
Its the experience, lifestyle, family bonding, beers with mates, anticipation as your heading to the game, watching a new draft pick grow into a great player every week. And any other touchy feely moment i missed that make footy important to us.
People go to the footy cos its part of their lives. Not because of a Cup.

Its what Johan Cruyff always said, winning is not the only thing. Football is about style and fun and creating moments.

How did we make Tom Lynch fall out of love with our club....

Ross Lyon. from what I can recall, he played him int he back line for his first game, and then dropped him after that.

It's a shame, he's become a neat player. Gets plenty of the footy, kicks goals & provides a link between 50 metre arcs. He pretty much plays the Riewoldt role however more dominant below his knees instead of in the air. He would be perfect for us now.

He was very poor for us. But was very young.

A lesson to all those bagging Paddy and some of the kids in our team at the moment.

Theyre already off to a poorer start than our 2011

This weekend they face wce right?

Could be 0-3
Still above us on the ladder. [emoji20]

Look at the other Tom Lynch too. 23 now, only just starting to put it all together for GCS.

Actually one of his first games was on the HFF where he had 3 possessions compared to Dustin Fletchers 41, then pretty much everyone went "ok, let's not play him as a forward flanker because he's rubbish".

His debut game was a forward tag on Dustin Fletcher. Stupid idea

tabenar has been crushed in a similar manner to lynch and stanley
alex pearce is getting messed around being played fwd
tanner smith now being played fwd in the WAFL

i swear its like deja vu when we were seeing lynch, walsh etc being played back then fwd then when they settled and played well they brought into the senior side in a completely different position, then dropped when shit shock horror they didnt play well

i worry about talented players like weller, tucker, langdon and what he will do to their confidence and ability

That was round 18 2010.
He played a few forward in 2011, 4 goals out of 5 games.
Looking at his TOG , i suspect he was either sub, or subbed out in a few of those.
Furthermore he hardly got to play even 2 games in a row. ( round 10 15,16, 19, 22 ).
Ross Lyons development skills were rubbish.

His round 15 effort against North was 16 disposals and 2 goals.
Mostly he'd get at least 14 disposals now , and kick at least one goal. Then he kicks a bag sometimes.

Alex Pearce was performing quite well as a defender last year wasn't he? why the change..?

see thats the thing, he looked quite promising and still manages to kick handy bags in the WAFL but then he gets to senior level and he's a completely different player. its like he's too scared to just play the game

i'd say its because they just dont have a KPF

its just strange to be honest

but hey we've since this happen before havent we

All I remember is the GF's and how close we were and the great times to watch footy. Certainly the best time in my footy life and I'm 54 years old. I do also remember the crap SC position we were in and the very poor recruiting at the time which meant taking the punt on some ordinary AFL footballers.

No I set it at GF because you cant win if you aren't in them. And after 141 years we still have only won one. I missed 1966 but I loved the week before 2009 and 10 more than any other week ive had in footy. I do know if we had a side as good as 2004 to 2006 we would have certainly won a GF or two.

we've made grand finals... just making another one isnt going to cut it IMO

the bar is well and truly winning one. ross lyons time was a failure IMO, it set as further back in trying to grab one
