Tigers wont win a flag with this crop of players or current coaching staff.
They're headed for a rebuild but they don't know it yet.

Did anyone hear Mark Stevens on MMM tonight?

His 3 "hot topics" were:

Deliberate Out of Bounds and the players who pull up short with their arma out.

"Imposing signs of life" from Paddy McCartin. Said his marking is something else and once he can go 4 qtrs... look out!

And that St Kilda are closer to a flag than Richmond. Looking at the Tigers list they dont have time for a 'half step back' and need to bite the bullet like the Saints did to get in done properly.

For a bloke that has no love at all for the Saints (he is a mad Bulldog) he was very much full of praise for Richo, Finnis and Ameet and the work they have done.

For all the masturbating over Jacob Weitering, I happily have Jake Lever on the same level. The kid is a gem

To be fair though Lever has 12 months head start and a much better team around him. Easy to play with confidence when you have guys like Talia, Laird and Smith around you to mop up your mistakes.

Weitering has played 4 games and is probably top 3 in the Blues BnF right now. They hype seems justified.

I was basing it more on Lever's overall performance including last year a a 1st year player. It's also easy to play with confidence when your a good quality kid surrounded by a bunch of spuds like Weitering is at Carlton. Let's be honest, Sam Rowe & Michael Jameson would not get a game at StKilda

Weitering is definitely better than Lever, but Lever is Mr Under The Radar & the Crows got a bargain at pick 14 for him

I would have thought its harder to play with a bunch of spuds in the backline. Surely that means you are more rushed than playing with a good quality backline.

Sam Rowe and Jameson are still on their list? They are absolutely horrific, wouldn't get a gig in our VFL side

Why wouldn't it be?

Both teams had/have a very poor backline & a 1st year player came in & dominated like a seasoned veteran. Pretty sure that's self explanatory

Footy is simple then. No good backman has obviously struggled early in poor sides.

C'mon, don't take it so friggin literally. You're smarter than that. I'm just pointing out that it has happened before

I'm sure young 1st year backman have struggled in poor defensive lines. I'm simply showing that it is not always the case.

Don't be such hard work FFS

I'm bored. And I actually think it is harder in a poor side but I'm sure there are examples both ways. Anyway the guy is a star. Very small sample size but nearly double Kosi's stats in his first year.

Port is being absolutely thumped by the Giants.
And they only beat us in the final quarter. No one can tell me that our lack of a pre season game did not cost us.

Giants looking impressive 93-31 up against Port with time left in the second!

Kelly, Billings and Bont are gonna create a helluva lot of discussion in the next decade.
