In isolation one player bad mouthing Ross means little to his rep however two in the space of a week is no coincidence IMO.

We all know the rumours re Ross. While coaching St Kilda he was admired by a select few & loathed by the rest.

Any truth? Cracks in his player management methods are starting to open up.

I reckon it just comes down to injuries, old blokes slowing up & not enough young talent.

Never heard anything about Ross being loathed by anyone but the fringe players. The top 25 or so either loved him or highly respected him.

There's a lot of people with an axe to grind over Ross (not you) so I'm always sceptical about these so called rumours.

0-9 says it all. Good coaches don't coach a side to 0-9. It simply does not happen.
Lyon cant claim responsibility when the side is winning and then blame the players when they are losing. You cant have it both ways.
0-9 is terrible coaching.

Mate he is 110% tanking. You can be sure Ross is in contact with Cam McCarthy and keeping a very close eye on Sam Petrevski-Seton. I still think they'd be down near the bottom but I'm struggling to believe 0-9 with some of their home games is anything but tanking.

they arent. a coach that is tanking doesnt berate players at the breaks like he has done this year.

they just simply are not that good

Got old very quickly and their stoppage gameplan has been stifled by the out of bounds rule

the extra emphasis of quicker ball movement through kicking killed it IMO

writing was on the wall after the 2013 GF, was just a matter of time

good coaches adjust at that point, he didnt

He hasn't adjusted since departing StKilda , same game plan, shittier players

Absolutely. Easy money tonight for a decent margin by the Tiges

I just keep seeing that "shocking" departure at the end of this year or next.

Some shit club will be so desperate for finals they'll go with Ross to get them there

Richmond and Collingwood look ready for Rossy.

Dont know.

His gameplan revolves on a rolling maul zone/flood.
Dont like the position of the play? Put it out reset, get Sandilands to win the tap. Rinse, repeat.
That is now a thing of the past with new rules for OOB and interchange limitations.

Ross is cooked, cant change and his list is exhausted.
Freo are done for a decade.

Which club with any brains will take on a coach with an outdated gameplan who will destroy your list

Cant be his gameplan. The best sides this year are still the best defensive sides. Look at North, Sydney, WB and WC.
He's tanking for sure. Just because he screams at them doesnt mean hes not tanking. You cant see how hard hes loading the training during the week. Plus they have lots of injuries. And Chris Mayne is dreaming about 7 figure contracts.

Expect him to be coaching a club just out of Sydney next year....

Newcastle Knights in the NRL are crying out for a coach, with a game plan like that. :p:huh:

Yeah it is. Those other teams also score heavily from quick ball movement and long kicking to an attack that spread.

As for tanking. All he gets is one pick better than the premier. Since priority picks have gone it isnt worth it.

I have never heard Lyon ever claim responsibility for winning so why should he when losing. I will never understand this Lyon dislike. If people on here don't reckon the week before the 2009 and 10 GF wasn't the best time following the Saints then they were obviously around in 1966. I loved that time and Lyon was part of it and a big part. We didn't have the best side in either year but nearly won both and those who come back but we didn't, yes I know that all to well.

By the way did anyone think Freo had a side last year that would finish the home and away season on top of ladder. I certainly didn't. As for this year well they are crap and maybe Lyon isn't coaching as well. I don't know how we could know that for sure though.

I tend to agree. Was happy with Lyon as our coach.
I was commenting on the state currently and the history of his lists after he has had them for a number of years.

we know but because he admitted he got it all wrong with the football program. in any case its too little too late

he should have changed up in 2014 after he saw hawthorn kicking through his zone at ease

in any case, freo have made a rod for their own back. they have him locked in until the end of 2020. they cant sack him with a traditional contract as the pay out would be very very large and would have to go against the football dept cap which means they would then have to pay the soft tax. if they have him on a rolling contract then they will be ok

looking at ross lyon last night, he looks like he's going through the motions. doesn't look anything like the ross that is in the hunt for a flag

if i was port adelaide i'd be making a big big big play for him

Did you guys hear that? Basil Zemplis just said, "coach of the bulldogs, Leon Cameron". Then they go and have a chat to Cameron after Hunter kicks a goal and Zemplis asks him,"Must have been a nice settler for you Leon."

Lololol. How the hell does this guy get a job as a commentator? Inept as they come

I thought I had two many beers and it was just me that heard it that way.
