Dropping Stringer against Essendon is nothing more than tokenism. If they were playing any other side and it wouldn't even cross their mind. Hope he stinks it up for Footscray

It's not suggesting the Dogs have sorted too many issues out. They lost al their seniors a few years ago and there is plenty of rumours suggesting they are not a very cohesive unit. Stringer is apparently not well liked by the coach or players and there is a lot of disunity around Boyd. It's a soap opera that club.

I have to give the Demons credit for being able to trade him. Its up there with the Tambling and Walsh trades for getting something from nothing.

While true, it's an awful set of misses in a year where we brought six onto the main list. The mature age boys are a reach, but Darling was taken two after Cripps, Fasolo two after Crocker, and the talk was we were heavy into Dalhaus such that it was 50/50 between him and Polo before Lyon pulled rank, given we'd brought in four 18 year olds already.

Darling in particular would have been straight into the 22 in the spot Gamble attempted to fill. If we genuinely thought we were still competing, as the recruitment of Gamble and Polo probably indicates, itwas silly to not do so.

I like what Melbourne are doing from a recruiting point of view, but it's exactly games like today why I don't perceive them as a future threat like I do the Dogs and GWS. Just not a club that knows how to win

Melbourne supporters deserve to get a bit melty if they lose this. Massive couple of weeks for the club after a decade in the wilderness, and they are facing a team that has been largely poo since their early season burst.

I don't mind them, probably hate them a bit less than some other teams, but hated their pseudo priority pick, AFL bought coach and staggering non punishment for tanking.
