I hate other teams!
Thought the Dees might have had a reality check coming up . Maybe getting a bit ahead of themselves.
Thought it started with Tomas Bugg & Jack Watts trash talking Bulldogs players on instragram.
And then Clayton (glass jaw) Oliver posting on social media after his diving effort.

If i was Goodwin id say pull ya heads in boys. As of yet weve still done nothing for the past 10yrs.
They lost as soon as Max Gawn started talking about top 4 & Grand Finals this week..... Seriously, he plays for Melbourne. Bloke is an idiot

Mills was engaged with bugg in some off the ball push and shove he didn't blind side him at all.
Mills obviously didn't expect it and has been hit on the button...

I don't feel I need to state anything since you pretty much defeated yourself. Well done.:thumbsu:

I'm saying it didn't look much they were engaged in some push and shove and bugg threw a punch which seemed to lack any real venom or intent. Mills headed off and reappeared on the bench the seven commentary team speculated about his injury and if he would come back on, they put the jacket on him and that is his night done.

Half time John Ralph mentions concussion nothing else, bugg is at best an annoying ass and he will do his time.

He has no one to blame but himself, I see Hawkins making deliberate and forceful contact enough to knock a man off his feet and he gets a week. There is intent and he does it quite a bit.

Mills obviously didn't expect it and has been hit on the button, the league need a crack down in general there are way too many sneaky ones being thrown and going unpunished deemed insufficient force. Sydney and the demons are both teams that push this to the edge imho.

Once again bugg will get his weeks but let's not make out he went Barry hall on him, bugg was unlucky enough to to land what many throw on a player who may have just though bugg would break off the engagement and turned his gaze at the wrong time.

Mills seemed OK on the bench and pissed he was ruled out, he walked out to the quarter time huddle and seemed fine. Once again John Ralph mentioned nothing but concussion, no one wants to see blokes getting taken out with cheap shots.
Throwing a punch was as smart as the Bali 9 running drugs just after Corby was busted.

Anyone who still thinks taking Paddy over Petracca was a good idea is ******* delusional.
That's life as a saints supporter. So much is promised to us, we inevitably **** up what should be the most basic of things and then you have the usual old boy crowd defend it to the death

Mills has a massive welt on his cheekbone. Any clown that doesn't think it 'connected' that well needs a reality check.

Bugg should get 6 weeks. He's a parasitic cheap shot merchant & faux tough guy. Never forget that this is the bloke who smashed Riewoldt in the back off the ball & gave him whiplash. He's an absolute shit campaigner
Mills doesn't seem to be a Oliver type

I reckon he has more in common with Barlow. I reckon he would have like to played on but the doctors ruled him out

Since the AFL era started we as a club have actually managed 2 succesful re-builds: a mid-90's one and an early 2000s one. The mid 90's one almost delivered us a premiership as did the early 2000s one. Clubs like us and the Bulldogs have actually adapted well to the AFL era whearas clubs like Essendon and Carlton for example have been terrible at it.

This re-build is honestly too early to make a call on. I back our club in based on our AFL history and ability not to live on past glory. I'd give it another 3 years until this re-build can be evaluated properly.

Our club is many things (chaotic admin, questionable coaching decisions) but since the AFL era began, we've managed to adapt to the new conditions of the AFL better than most.

Paddy will dominate for us - he needs uninterrupted senior footy and a midfield that can hit his tit.
At the moment we don't have that.
End of story.
Exactly. Which is why we should have taken the mid ahead of the tall forward, because tall forwards can only win games if they have a top quality midfield kicking to them.

I can see the reason why we got Paddy .
We recruited Bruce as a tall defender ,
And we had under performing Lee , White and Stanley as options .
Massive expectations on Roo .
Beau Maister ?
Not expiring stuff when sitting down trying to build your future forward line.
Petracca will be a star .....but
Paddy was a critical selection which had to be made .

That was overthinking it at the time and it's overthinking it now. In a rebuild, pick mids, mids, and more mids. You can't be competitive without them. But you can win a flag with zero A-grade key forwards.

I thought every Saints player was picked for the players board but I can only find Joyce , the other Irish lad doesn't seem to be there . Can someone double check , I've looked a few times and can't find him.

Oh and by the way Le Tour De France starts tonight , wooohhhoooooo not much sleep for the next three weeks, lol.

Tall forwards don't come around very often whereas mids are there every year. We had to take Paddy when we did because they take longer to get going usually. Imagine the melts if we took a mid and Paddy turned out to be another Hogan who dominated right from the start.

we have Battle, Marshall, Memberry, Macartin, Bruce so looking like we have forwards for the future so looking good and Marshall could br the best of the lot

Let's not re-write history and pretend like we pulled Paddy McCartin out of nowhere as pick 1, there was a clear top 2 in Paddy and Petracca. Supposedly most clubs rated Petracca over Paddy but other clubs, not just us, rated Paddy more.

It's not like we went Blaine Boekhorst at pick 1. Paddy was going top 2 no matter what.

If Sydney had of kicked straight this would have been a smashing for the dees. Big reality check and how good are the swans?? Massive surge after 0-6

They were missing Watts who is a very solid player these days, lost Viney during the match who is almost their barometer and no Jones or Hogan through injury. That's probably 3 of their top 5 and 1 top 10 and coupled with Oliver seeming to struggle with the focus he put on him self. They didn't put him on the ground until half way through the first quarter. Gawn also only just back. I reckon if we were missing Ross, Steven, Bruce and Rooey we would probably struggle too.

I called Sydney as my flag smoky after they beat us. If they get on a roll, anything is possible this year.
Rampe makes them so much better in defence, he is almost their most important player these days. Parker is a freak too, why didn't we get him when he's bayside, surely we would have had people who could let the club know watching him coming through.

Interesting plan by Sydney when the ball is deep in their forward zone and there's a ball up they don't send a ruckman instead Gawn goes up alone and Sydney try to rove to him. Seems to work pretty well , I assume their ruckman is waiting for that loose kick out by Melbourne. Maybe we should try the same thing ?
Only problem is Longer can't take a mark
