I think the media are far more prominent than we are...you'd hope all the players would have more sense than to read BF
You can roll your eyes all you want...

People start shit threads and before you know it, media scum trolls the joint and it's tomorrow's news.

Think about it.

Just waiting for something similar on Billings.

Unfortunately most of them don't know fact from fiction and definitely do very little research...

A prime example tonight on AFL 360 when Robbo asked Bob Murphy TWICE about whether his grandparents would be coming to his 300th game.
Only problem is that none of them are alive!! That is inexcusable journalism and unbelievably cringeworthy!!

That doesn't worry me because we follow one club closely so we know all the facts, they have to know many more things about 18 clubs as well as write articles and go on TV. I would stuff up as well as would most people.

Nah, not too many real journos out there mate.

It's all about headlines and they don't care what shit they throw out there as long as it gets ratings or sells papers.

They are just glorified click bait these days.

Sheahan and Wilson are the only 2 decent ones.

It's their job.

If you're going to commentate, know the difference between Newnes and Billings.

If you're going to be on talk shows giving an opinion on draft and trading, know the fact that it's Saints who have Hawks no1 pick, not the GWS.

If you're going to tweet about the Saints " pick 5 for Carlisle" do the research and realise that with the pick we got back, we got Gresham...it wasn't a straight swap.

If you're going to comment on Dempster's retirement, don't make the comment that it had nothing to do with any health issues, when it clearly did!

I could go on and on and on...
It's their job and they are not held accountable for anything they say.
You and me would be sacked if our work was so shoddy and just plain incorrect a lot of the time.

Like I said I wouldn't be able to get things right all the time even if it was my job because of sites on the web like this one who pick up on the most minor things. Lets face it we have very keen Saints supporters on here who still say Jack Stevens.

Paddy and Bont in the same draft.

King even last night still saying we could have had Parish ad well as Gresham ( even though how we get pick 14 and get Parish when Essendon chose him the pick before 5 is anyones guess).

Making up shit about Dempster retiring.

The BS piles up so quick you need wings to stay above it (apologies to Francis Ford Coppola)

How about that reporter that asked bevo if Will Minson will play next week hahaha
It's not the first time this reporter has looked like an absolute tool on TV before.

He was in the Ross Lyon press conference a few weeks ago (I think when they lost to Port) and he asked some ridiculous questions there too.

But the one that really springs to mind as probably, in my opinion, the worst question ever asked to an AFL coach in a presser was a couple of years ago when the Blues lost to either Collingwood or Essendon early on in the season. This same reporter said;

"Mick is this the worst loss you've had in your coaching history? Including all the Grand Finals"

Mick just looked at him like he was crazy, similar to what Bevo did.

Incredible viewing.

No it was this bloke as well - I remember it clearly because I was watching it with a mate at the time and we both just looked at each other bewildered lol. It was a nothing game and this guy was comparing it to losing Grand Finals lol

Not footy related but the 'king of free speech' Senator David Leyonhjelm blocked me for calling him a 'dead set shit human being' after he made a wise-crack about the Bourke Street mall tragedy.

My problem is how little accountability there is in the media.

When players make mistakes field, they are crucified by the media. It comes with the job of being an AFL football but I know that all players have put the effort in at training and are trying their hardest in the game. They do not make mistakes on purpose and if they do, they will go over the tapes and review during the week and learn from it.

But then AFL media doesn't have the same accountability. Yes, I understsand they have different roles but like footballers, they are doing a job. If they call out players, coaches and umpires out for mistakes, surely they should also heed their own advice. If they AFL media did half the work that the players did, then it would make our game so much more enjoyable. Half the time they are just launching into players, padding themselves on the back over unfunny calls and getting simple facts wrong.

I am a massively NBA fan and some of the media connected to that is fantastic. In depth interviews, break down of games, why teams won and why, current trends and they can be funny at times. Makes AFL media look amateurish.

Hutchy criticised Leon Cameron saying that he'd not want to **** up coaching at GWS because it's like being handed the keys to a Ferrari...

GWS people have now turned it on Hutchy saying that Hutchy was handed the keys to a Ferrari (being handed host of The Footy Show) & has now ploughed it into a brick wall.

I think Robbo mentioned it in an article?

Did he actually believe we should have kept pick 5 and somehow had pick 14 (Gresh) as well? The Bombers and the media believe they did well out of that trade - as a Saints supporter watching Carlisle and Gresham playing for us makes me believe we did damn well out of that trade.

Yep same plodders who said the Hawks did well out of the trade last year, and make s..t up about Dempster retirement

Bottom line can't control what the media says, can control how we trade, draft and play

According to Kingy if we didn't do the Carlisle trade we could've had Parish & Gresham....
